Mr. Money (Music)
Mr. Money Joey Antoine Wallace Jr. (December 20, 1983) best known as Mr. Money, is a record producer and entrepreneur. His business interests include Checkmate Records, a learning center, and a ladies Shoe Store.
Early Years
Mr. Money was born in the Caribbean on the small Island of St. Croix, which is a part of the United States Virgin Islands. He was raised with his six older sisters by his parents, Joseph and Helena Wallace.
Mr. Money excelled in the game of basketball and was the number one ranked player in the US Virgin Islands in 2001. Also a gifted student, he received numerous academic awards and scholarships during his stint at the St. Croix Educational Complex High School.
After playing two years of college basketball at the University of West Virginia Institute of Technology, Mr. Money chose to forego basketball and focus on his studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering in 2006.
Checkmate Records
After playing many roles in music for the better part of his high school and college years, Mr. Money parlayed the success of his previous business ventures and established Checkmate Records in 2009.
In the summer of 2010, Checkmate Records and Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 radio station will host the first ever “Hip-Hop Is Alive” Rap Auditions in Atlanta, Georgia in search of a priority artist.
