Mobilecdn
Mobile CDN, Inc. is a company that provides a distributed computing platform for global Internet mobile content and application delivery, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The company was founded in 2009 by former leader of Mobile at Limelight Networks and mobile Industry expert Euan McLeod. Mobile CDN is the only company who has a combined Mobile and CDN strategy.
Content delivery to a user
Mobile CDN provides mobile device detection, real time content transcoding, live mobile streaming to any platform and mobile analytics. Mobile CDN also claims to be the only company that can deliver live streaming to any mobile operation system due its ability to stream live video to the popular iPhone device.
The benefit is that users can receive mobile content from whichever Mobile CDN server is close to them or has a good connection, leading to faster download times, higher quality streams and less vulnerability to network variations.
Customers
Mobile CDN's customers include many large internet, media and computer companies.
TBS TNT with NBA All stars games
Credits and awards
Mobile CDN is credited as the first company to be able to stream live video content to the iPhone through their NBA application for the All Stars games in Feb 2009. Although Mobile CDN told Tech Crunch they could not provide statistics for the All Star event, NewTeeVee stated that "While the online coverage was free, more than 1 million watched the game using the iPhone app the NBA put on sale for 99 cents last week." This would mean that Mobile CDN shattered all mobile streaming records for the All Star games with a live iPhone streaming application for this one event.
