MKFM

MKFM is a local radio station for Milton Keynes and a not for profit organisation.

The station has the support of Milton Keynes Council and local Members of Parliament, Mark Lancaster MP, and Iain Stewart MP.

MKFM began broadcasting full-time on DAB Digital Radio across Herts, Beds, Bucks and Northants in May 2013, however, test transmissions on DAB began on February 14, 2013 when Milton Keynes Dons chairman Pete Winkelman and MP Iain Stewart switched on the transmitter in a ceremony at Bletchley Park. The station had previously completed successful trial broadcasts on FM in July 2011, December 2011, July 2012, December 2012.

MKFM will be applying to Ofcom for a full-time FM license as soon as it becomes available which is expected to be sometime in 2014. In May 2014 MP Ian Stewart debated in parliament on the way Ofcom provides local community FM licences in the hope of speeding up the process for MKFM.
