Mintlify

Mintlify is an American Software company that develops a platform for creating and maintaining software documentation using artificial intelligence. Founded in 2021 by Han Wang and Hahnbee Lee, the company is based in San Francisco.

History

Wang and Lee met while studying at Cornell University. Mintlify initially focused on generating documentation from source code and participated in Y Combinator's Winter 2022 batch.

In May 2022, the company raised $2.8 million in seed funding led by Bain Capital Ventures. In September 2024, it raised $18.5 million in a Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

The same year, Mintlify disclosed a security breach in which GitHub access tokens belonging to 91 customers were compromised.

In March 2026, Mintlify ranked first in the early-stage category of the Enterprise Tech 30 survey, conducted by Wing Venture Capital in partnership with Newcomer. The same month, it acquired Helicone, an open-source platform for large-language-model observability and gateway infrastructure. Helicone entered maintenance mode following the acquisition, and its founders joined Mintlify.

The following month, Mintlify raised $45 million in Series B funding co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Salesforce Ventures, at a reported valuation of $500 million.

In 2026, Mintlify received a five-star rating in Newsweek{{'s}} America's Greatest Startup Workplaces ranking.

Platform

Mintlify provides software for creating and maintaining technical documentation, including API references, guides and knowledge bases. The platform can integrate with software repositories and uses artificial intelligence for generating, searching and updating documentation.
