Mike Watt writer

Mike Watt (b. January 26, 1973, in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, is a journalist, screenwriter, film editor and director.

Biography

Not to be confused with Mike Watt the bassist, Mike Watt the journalist is best-known for his work in movie-related magazines and websites like Film Threat, Cinefantastique Magazine, Femme Fatales, The Dark Side, Draculina and Fangoria Magazine. Watt is currently the editor of genre magazine, Sirens of Cinema.

Raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Watt pursued a BFA for Film and Video Production through Pittsburgh Filmmakers and Point Park University. His senior thesis film, "Tenants", was acquired for distribution through Salt City Video (aka Sub Rosa Studios and SRS Cinema). In 1997, he co-founded Happy Cloud Pictures with his wife-to-be Amy Lynn Best and friend Bill Homan. With Happy Cloud Pictures he wrote, co-produced and edited:

The Resurrection Game - a zombie / film noir (also directed)
Were-Grrl - a gay-friendly short.
Severe Injuries - a horror/comedy (distributed by SRS Cinema)
A Feast of Flesh - a vampire drama (acquired for distribution through Bloody Earth Films/Camp Motion Pictures in 2007)
He also wrote Dead Men Walking for The Asylum and The Screening for G. Cameron Romero (son of legendary director George A. Romero.

In 2005, Watt wrote and published a novelization of The Resurrection Game through the print-on-demand company iUniverse. One of the chapters was ReWorked as a short story and appears in The Undead: A Zombie Anthology published by Permuted Press.
