Mihaela Secrieru

Mihaela Secrieru (born March 26, 1962), PhD, is a Professor at the Department Of Romanian Language as Literatan Cuza University, Iași, Romania, and is the author of approximately 50 academic papers published in Romanian and international volumes and of over 45 scientific studies presented in national and international conferences and symposiums.

Studies and academic degrees

Secrieru was born in Botoșani, Romania. In 1980, Mihaela Secrieru graduated from 'A.T. Laurian' High school, Botosani, Romania. Five years later, she became valedictorian of the Faculty of Philology (now named 'Faculty of Letters') at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iași, Romania, being recommended for a career in higher education and research. In 1998, M. Secrieru received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Philology from the same university. She pursued partial university studies at Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, Moscow, in 1999, and between 2003–2004, she received a doctoral studentship funded by Altana Pharma AG and the University of Konstanz, Germany. In 2009, she was awarded with her second Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education Sciences.

University teaching career

From 1995 to 1998, Mihaela Secrieru was a substitute Lecturer at Colegiul Universitar de Institutori, Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iași, Romania and in 1999, she became a Lecturer at the Faculty of Letters within the same university. In 2002, M. Secrieru was appointed PhD, Reader (academic rank). Since 2007, she has held the position of PhD, Professor at the Department of Romanian Language and Literature, Faculty of Letters, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Iași, Romania.

Also, between 2003–2004 she taught Romanian language at Sprachlehrinstitut, University of Konstanz, Germany and between 2004 and 2010 she benefited from six Erasmus Programme teaching mobilities at the University of Konstanz and University of Jena, Germany, as well as at University of Udine, Italy. Moreover, M. Secrieru was an Invited Professor at the University of Konstanz twice, in July 2004 and July 2007.
