Mick McAteer
Mick McAteer is a noted consumer campaigner. He is founder and director of the Financial Inclusion Centre, Chair of the European Commission's Financial Services User Group (FSUG) and a member of the Financial Services Authority board- joining in November 2009. He is also a member of the CARITAS Westminster Advisory Board and a Fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE).
He was formerly Principal Policy Adviser for Which? (formerly the Consumers' Association), the largest consumer organisation in Europe. He formulated the organisation's policy on financial services amongst other things.
He was formerly on the Financial Reporting Council's Professional Oversight Board, Chairman of the European Commission's Financial Users Panel (FINUSE), member of the Consultative Panels of the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors (CEIOPS), the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS), and Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR), and non-executive Director of The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS).
Early life
McAteer was born in Derry, Northern Ireland. He attended St. Columb's College.
