Michael Steinger

Michael Steinger is an American trial lawyer based in Palm Beach, Florida. Steinger ran for the Democratic nomination for the Florida Senate in Palm Beach County, Florida in 2016. He was a founding partner of firm Steinger, Iscoe and Greene and represented the Barson family in a 2017 case against tennis player Venus Williams after a car crash which resulted in the death of Jerome Barson.

Career

In 1997, Steinger co-founded the law firm Steinger, Iscoe and Greene.

Steinger was involved with a case between insurer State Farm and Palm Beach Lakes Surgery Center when he had taken a deposition in 2012, though not a defendant in the case. Steiger fought State Farm's subpoena for correspondence between himself and Dr. Kugler as part of a "joint-defense" strategy. U.S. District Judge Daniel Hurley denied this request, and the case was later settled in 2013.

In May 2016, Steinger entered the Florida Senate race for District 30 in northern Palm Beach County, Florida. He ran against former state representative Bobby Powell in the Democratic party primary.

In 2017, Steinger filed a lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court against Venus Williams on behalf of the Barson family after Jerome Barson died in a car crash where William's was initially deemed at fault. Williams was accused of running a red light, failing to yield the right of way, inattentive driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Barson's wife Linda was driving their 2016 Hyundai Accent on June 9th when, while driving through an intersection with a green light, Williams cut across the car's path in her 2010 Toyota Sequoia. According to reports, Williams was stuck in The Intersection due to other traffic. Barson died in the hospital two weeks later on June 22. On July 8, police announced their conclusion that Williams was not at fault after reviewing videos showing Williams lawfully entered the intersection.

Other activities

As of 2016, Steinger had contributed over $10,000 to local and state political campaigns and over $43,000 to federal campaigns. He serves on the business program advisory board of South University.
