Michael Neimkin
Michael Neimkin is a former collegiate American baseball player most recently for the Samford University Bulldogs and an American entrepreneur. In 2009, he co-founded the web based company, roosterfly.com, and is the author of the company's blog.
Baseball career
Neimkin prepped at Mountain Brook High School in Mountain Brook, Alabama. He was named to the Louisville Slugger Pre-season All-American Team his senior season. Neimkin attended Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before transferring to Samford. He sat out his first season at Samford after having surgery. As a junior, he appeared in 17 games, posting a 1-0 record with 2 saves and 38 strikeouts in 36.2 innings pitched. As a senior, he led the pitching staff in appearances (24) and saves (4) while working 41.1 innings, striking out 43 and posting a 2-2 record. On March 29, 2005 Neimkin allowed just 3 hits in 4.1 innings, earning the save against #21 Auburn giving head coach Casey Dunn his first win against his alma mater. During his Samford career, he received several academic honors. In 2004, he was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society, which is an honor society for junior and senior student-athletes with at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA. In 2005, he was awarded the presitgious OVC medal of honor which is given yearly to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in the conference in his or her respective sport.
