Michael Musclow
Michael Musclow (born March 22, 1985) is a Canadian MusicAL artist from Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, best known for his acoustic live performances and progressive/experimental studio work.
Career
After enrolling in theory, audio engineering, rock and jazz courses in high school, Michael began his music career in 2003 while participating in the Rotary Exchange program in Denmark; performing under the moniker "Cell" as well as releasing an album titled "Blue". Upon returning to Canada in 2004, Michael released his first solo album titled "Rotted Nebula".
The experimental nature of Musclow's recordings went largely unnoticed until the release of his 2009 album "Scars in the Buffalo's Eyes" which received BC Indie Music Award nominations in the "Concept/Collaboration" and "Instrumental" Recording of the Year categories. His 2010 follow up albums "Aelita & Those Fallen" and "RUiN" were also both nominated for a BCIMA in the "Instrumental Recording of the Year" category in 2011. His first compilation, which includes a previously unreleased track as well as remixed and remastered selections from his previous seven solo albums, was released in March 2012. His latest solo album "Lie Within The Line" was released in September 2012 followed by A Tour of the BC Interior. In the November/December 2012 EDition of Okanagan Life Magazine, Musclow was listed #2 for the South Okanagan in the Readers Choice Awards "Best Local Musican/Musical Group" category. In December of 2012 he released a seventy two minute ambient album titled "GLIMPSE of Our Children". A new Cell album has also been announced to be released in 2013.
Michael is currently the creator/host of "The Andromedan Perspective", a weekly radio show on Peachcityradio.org where he presents a new ambient soundscape he has constructed during that week.
Themes
All of Michael's studio albums under every moniker reflect consistent themes of dreaming/space related imagery, former civilizations and questioning of societal structure in both the artwork and musical presentations.
