Michael McGowan (Scottish Footballer)
Michael Hugh McGowan is a Scottish footballer who currently plays for Albion Rovers and is previously of the clubs Stonehouse Violet, Dunipace and Cambuslang Rangers.
He also completed a trial with Rovers' local rivals Airdrie United in 2007 before signing with the Scottish Third Division side.
Career
The 2004-05 season spent with Stonehouse Violet was McGowan's first in Junior football and coincided with the players' final year of high school. Owing to his consistently impressive displays throughout the league campaign the the seventeen-year-old defender ended the season as the club's Player of the Year.
The next year he left Stonehouse in favour of a move to Dunipace spending one season there before joining Cambuslang.
McGowan's 2006-07 season with Cambuslang Rangers' saw him appointed team captain and then go on to perform a clean sweep at the club's end of season awards as he was named Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year. Thus paving the way for his imminent step up to Senior level.
