Michael Lewis Cunningham

Michael Cunningham (born 1991) is a professional footballer who currently is playing for Syracuse Silver Knights.

Early life

Michael Cunningham was born on 5 February 1991 in Derbyshire, England . Like most kids in England he grew up playing football. He enjoyed playing football with his friends in the park every single day.

College and Amateur

Michael attended Loughborough College in Leicestershire, England, where he played for the ECFA Development academy.

Cunningham played College soccer at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY (NCAA DII).He attended Robert Wesleyan College from 2011-2015. Cunningham played as a forward for Robert Wesleyan and scored 30 goals in his four-year college career. Michael recorded 77 points (30 goals, 17 assists), during his 4 years playing for the Redhawks, and was twice named an NSCAA First Team All-american in 2012, and 2014.

Career

Michael first gained his reputation as a footballer after being scouted by the Nike Football Academy in 2010. Following a spell in the Academy, Michael joined Luton Town FC, before they went into administration and consequently were relegated from the football league 2. Soon after, Michael won a soccer scholarship to play overseas at a college in New York. Leading on from a successful college career, and receiving many individual honors, including twice being named a first team NSCAA All-American, Michael broke into the US professional soccer ranks, first competing in the third division (USL-PDL) for Southern California, before joining the Rochester Rhinos in 2015 who compete in the USL-PRO. During the off season, Michael also trained professional indoor team, Rochester Lancers who compete in the MISL (Major indoor soccer league). In 2016, Michael transferred to Northcote City FC, who compete in the Playstation 4 National Premier League in Australia where he signed for the 2016 season. Professional career

In 2010, Michael played for Luton Town FC Reserves.

In 2014, Michael played a season with the Southern California Seahorses of the USL PDL, where he played 14 games, recording 1 goal and 1 assist.

In 2015, Michael trained with the Rochester Rhinos of the USL, but returned to college to finish his studies, graduating in December 2015.

In January, 2016, Michael signed with Northcote City FC of the National Premier League Victoria, in Australia. Michael played 12 games, recording 1 goal, and 1 assist.

In February 2017, Michael Signed for the Rochester Lancers of the National Premier Soccer League, recording 1 goal, and 1 assist. Following his season with the Lancers, Michael signed his first professional indoor soccer contract with the Syracuse Silver Knights of the MASL.

Michael is a pacy right-footed winger who is notable for his agility and acceleration. He is also technical in his finishing and shooting ability, as well as tactical with great off-the-ball intelligence and cuts . Overall, his professional mentality has earned him a multitude of trials at various club academies and first team places and a college scholarship .

Cunningham also has a YouTube channel, 7mlc , where he has surpassed 100,000 subscribers. He publishes vlogs, tutorials and shares his life as a professional footballer.
