Mercy Memorial School
Mercy Memorial is a private, English medium, CISCE affiliated high school located in south of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. The owner of the school is Mrs Sophie Shukla and the current principal is Joy Mathew. The motto of the school is "Let your light shine".
It is among one of the prestigious schools in Kanpur. The school has produced several CISCE toppers at city level.1 2
History
Mercy Memorial School and Huddard High School(also located in Kanpur) is under the central ownership of Sophie Shukla. In 1926, Huddard High School was founded by Miss Ruth Dutton, a British Missionary. It remained under the control of Scott Wilson, who was related to Dutton, until 1963. In 1970, it was taken over by Mercy Roberts and Ananda Morrow. In 1972, it came under the control of Sophie Shukla, who was the younger sister of Miss Mercy Roberts. In 1984 after the death of Mercy Roberts, Sophie Shukla established Mercy Memorial School in remembrance of her older sister.3.
Extracurricular activities
School's extracurricular activities include basketball, tennis, debate, elocution, dramatics, quizzes, music, and Tae-Kwon-Do/Karate. The school participates in inter school competitions in all these areas.
