Memorypress
MemoryPress claims to be the worlds first web-based typesetting system. MemoryPress is an online bookmaking application developed by FamilyLearn Inc. It allows families to collaborate online to design, typeset, and publish family history books. MemoryPress includes book templates to aid in the layout of the books.
Technology
Because the MemoryPress application is web-based there is nothing to download. MemoryPress is built using Ruby on Rails. MemoryPress' User Interface is built using Ajax. MemoryPress' online typesetting engine is powered by TeX.
Features
MemoryPress allows users to collaborate online to drag-and-drop pictures and text into book templates and choose between a variety of backgrounds and page layout's to create a personalized memory book. Finished memory books are printed on demand in hard cover.
History
Although MemoryPress was made available to the public in June, 2007, it's predecessor, iMemoryBook, was released to the public in 2004. FamilyLearn announced on April 23, 2007 that it would change iMemoryBook's name to MemoryPress.
