History
MDAlgorithms was founded in 2016 by Oded Harth, a tech entrepreneur and AI specialist, and his father Yoram Harth, a dermatologist and former research fellow at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. The company was established with the intention of making medical-grade skin analysis and treatment accessible via smartphones.
In 2017, the company participated in the Y Combinator accelerator program (Batch W17). That same year, it launched its first major product, the MDacne mobile application.
In 2025, MDAlgorithms was named to the Deloitte Technology Fast 500. The company was ranked 434th on the list, attributing its inclusion to a 156% revenue growth during the eligibility period.
The company operates three consumer brands MDacne, MDhair, and Nuvane which has users complete a medical-grade questionnaire and submit facial or scalp images that are analyzed using computer-vision algorithms to generate personalized treatment routines and product kits.
MDalgorithms develops proprietary computer-vision systems trained on large dermatological image datasets and reports maintaining global collections of acne and scalp images for model training.
