Mauve Sideshow

Mauve Sideshow was an American Darkwave band from 1989-1997. It consisted of the Seattle duo of Treva Dea (vocals, effects) and Dusty Lee (sound collage, Mellotron).

"Mauve Sideshow would Appear to be the first incarnation of a linked series of American 'darkwave' outfits, including Mistress of Strands, Torn Curtain, Angel Provocateur, Minus Infinity and Thistle, all of whom are supposed to have used Mellotron at one point or another. It seems they all highlight different aspects of their gothic inclinations, with one being more electronic, one more ambient, one more atonal, etc. The undated Mauve Sideshow, possibly from '93 (no release dates on any of their albums), is apparently a compilation of tracks from two earlier vinyl-only releases, Dark Flowers and Stray Apparitions, plus one new track, but there's absolutely nothing On It to say what came from where, although I'd imagine the original albums are now as rare as rocking-horse poo."---Planetmellotron

"Superb duo from Seattle. Dusty Lee takes care of electronics and Treva sings (wordless vocals) and whispers ala Gong's 'space whisper'. Together they create Neo-Classical Ambient with spacey synths, effects, hypnotic voice and TONS of mellotron! Very spacey and hypnotic music, sometimes beautiful and sometimes dark (and even more beautiful at that).--Artemi Pugachov
