Maurizio A. Miglietta, DO is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Columbia Universtiy College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Chief of the Division of Acute Care Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

Prior to his role at Columbia, Dr. Miglietta served as Chief of the Division of Trauma & Critical Care at New York University School of Medicine and Director of Trauma And Co-Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the renowned and historic Bellevue Hospital Trauma Center in New York City.

Upon completion of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowships at the prestigious R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and University of Maryland, Dr. Miglietta founded New York City’s Mobile Trauma Unit. This unit provides medical care to dignitaries and federal agents in support of the United States Secret Service and Department of State - Bureau of Diplomatic Security. He is also an Honorary Police Surgeon providing expert trauma consultation for the New York City Police Department.

Dr. Miglietta is the creator of Tac-Pack® pocket sized trauma treatment kit (Tactical Medical Packs, LLC; www.traumapacks.com) carried by federal and local law enforcement agents throughout the United States. He currently serves as the company’s Chairman and CEO. He also is the Medical Advisor to Intelligent First Aid, Inc. which manufactures the first “talking“ medical aid kit.

He has authored and co-authored more than thirty peer-reviewed publications relating to trauma treatment and emergency surgery and is dual board certified in Surgery and Critical Care. He has lectured extensively on topics including: Explosive Trauma; Initial trauma resuscitation; Nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons in disaster management; Evaluation and treatment of Gunshot wounds; Trauma for the non-trauma center; Traumatic Amputations and “What you need to know to save a life”.

On June 26, 2007, The Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation (FEHSF)—a non-profit organization that supports the families of Federal Agents and law enforcement officials—honored him with an award for his work with the United States Secret Service - New York Field Office (CS Awards 2007).

Dr. Miglietta was recently awarded the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) National Award for Civilian Excellence in support of the protective mission of the U.S. Secret Service during 2006.
