Maulvi Ghulam Rasool
Maulvi Ghulam Rasool (1849 – 1892) was a famous Sufi poet of Punjab. He was the author of 'Yousaf Zulekha'.
Maulvi Ghulam Rasool was born on January 29, 1849, and died on March 7, 1892 in Alampur Kotla, 8 km from Dasuya town, Hoshiarpur District.
Maulvi Rasool wrote his first book at the age of 14 which was published in 1863-64. The afsana of "Yusaf Zalekha” written by him was appreciated by people. Out of the 6,666 prose-poems written by him, a majority of these formed part of the syllabus from Class X to PhD in Pakistan. He was the teacher of Umm-ul-Malang, the mother of famous revolutionary Sufi Hussein Baksh Malang Hoshirapuri.
The holy shrine of Maulvi Rasool is located in the fields of Alampur village.
