Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund
The Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund simply known as MMBF is a charitable trust headquartered in Nottingham,United Kingdom, with offices in London and Glasgow. It is a non-profit organization that is incorporated in United Kingdom, and is privately funded. The Trust describes its goal as to:
- support individuals whose careers are at standstill due to having no resources to move their careers forward
The MMBF provides sponsorships and grants to aspiring pilots and young film-makers worldwide, with their primary support being towards education and training in both industries. MMBF also supports events and institutions in both the film and the aviation industry.
Activities
The MMBF is a sponsor for 2014's Bath Film Festival which will run from the 13–23 November 2014. The Trust is also a sponsor of Witin Radio's Fall 2014 Music Festival.
On the 20th of October 2014 it was reported that Colchester Film Festival would introduce the Matthew Martino Rising Star Award in association with MMBF. The purpose of the award was to 'encourage new and emerging British film-makers by publicising their talent and supporting their future work'.
Projects
MMBF currently offers sponsorship and grants to aspiring pilots and film-makers. The Trust announced a £15,000 funding budget for the 2014/2015 year. Their aviation related grants will cover costs towards Private Pilot License, Pilot study packs and aviation related courses from recognised schools. Their film-making grants will sponsor First time film directors under 21, Film festival submission costs and acting tuition fees at credited drama schools and training organisations.
