Matt Stansell
Matt Stansell is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter and the former King of the Cage (KOTC) welterweight Champion.
MMA Career
Fighting out of Carlsbad, California, Stansell is a member of North County Fight Club where he trains with teammates Jason Lambert, Eddie Sanchez, Manny Rodriguez, Jeff W. Clark and other top level MMA fighters.
Stansell is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Roy Harris.
Although Stansell lost his first two professional bouts, he has gone unbeaten since. His most recent fight was a first round submission victory over then KOTC welterweight champion Thomas "Wildman" Denny. With that victory, Stansell was crowned KOTC welterweight champion.
In 2007, Stansell took a hiatus from fighting and decided to coach other MMA fighters. After working with his own team members at North County Fight Club, Stansell was named an assistant coach in the International Fight League (IFL). Stansell coached under Head Coach Shawn Tompkins as part of the Los Angeles Anacondas.
In addition to coaching MMA, Stansell is the Co-Founder/Vice President of NCFC Fight Management, one of MMA's top sports agencies.
