Matt Farnsworth (voice coach)
Matt Farnsworth (born May 15, 1972 in Atlanta) is an American actor, pianist and voice teacher living in New York City.
Education
He went to school at Sycamore High School. Farnsworth studied MusicAL Theatre at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music until 1992 the year he moved to New York City to work as a Musical Theatre actor.
Career
Acting career
Matt Farnsworth performed on Broadway in Cats, Thorough Modern Millie, Curtains, The Who's Tommy and the Canadian production of Sunset Boulevard as well as many regional productions like Summer of 42 and the TV show All My Children. As an actor he worked at Yale Repertory Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, 5th Avenue Theatre.
Matt Farnsworth decided to quit acting in 2009 to become a full time voice teacher.
Voice Teaching
Farnsworth started teaching by the age of 25 and became known as the vocal coach of the Broadway musical Rent. Since then he has been teaching his method to numerous students like recording artists Sara Bareilles, Constantine Maroulis, Pia Toscano, Jenna Ushkowitz, Carly Rae Jepsen and Tony Award nominees like Anika Larsen and Brandon Uranowitz amongst others. Matt also teaches workshops and masterclasses on a regular basis.
He worked on the set of the YV show Orange Is the New Black as a vocal coach.
Farnsworth has been a long time student of the acclaimed Bill Schuman for the past 25 years.
In 2015 Farnsworth created MF Voice, a mobile application with a patented algorithm system to support and develop singing.
