Martial arts machines
Throughout the development of the various martial arts their training tools have played a vital part in evolving and perfecting these systems and their techniques.
All The Martial Arts systems have been affected by the role that mechanical devices play whether it be weapons, dojo mats, breaking boards or even the uniforms we wear - all these devices and machines change and so indentify each martial system into their current state.
The main players in shaping our new martial arts would be the traditional wooden dummy, wing chun rings, iron palm ointments and even the system of using forms and karta. All these tools have developed the martial arts into their current form.
Even today modern training tools are developing and changing the Arts with new training products such as the Wavemaster for streching, the BOB training dummy for exactness in punching, the Focus Master for punch and kick placement training and the Martialarm Martial Arts Training Machine for repetition, trapping and chi sau development. All of which have one thing in common - to create a well rounded combat system.
These tools act like developers of the modern systems and influence new techniques and training methods and are becomming very popular in both kung fu and karate training. Since the 15th century this has been true with the advent of the wooden dummy, iron palm ointments, and then later boxing bags and striking pads.
Ideally a martial arts solo training tool should be workable for all systems and based on sound combat theory and through constant practice develop the style into sound physical application. The ideology and theory would have to take into account both competition and street application to again suit all styles and develop a well rounded fighter.
