Marta McGonagle

Marta Maria McGonagle (born July 14, in Ancón, Panama) is an American actress. McGonagle is best known for her roles in the independent films Believe In Me and Land of Shadowed Sand. McGonagle most recent role was in Short Cut to Hollywood.

McGonagle is the oldest of three sisters and has an older brother. McGonagle's father, an Irishman from Boston, was in the United States Army stationed in Panama when he met her mother in Costa Rica. Her mother comes from a line of active political figures including former Costa Rican president Bernardo Soto Alfaro.

The family resided in Panama until she was two, then lived in Costa Rica until McGonagle was seven. She worked in print and commercial modeling during that period. After the Army transferred her father to Aschaffenburg, Germany, she did her first play, The Wild Wild West, at age nine.

Her film career began in Texas in independent films including Land of Shadowed Sand, SideFX, and Red Ridge. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in public relations, minoring in Latin American media studies.

In 2005, McGonagle made the move to Los Angeles. She landed her first television roles in Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, Comedy Central’s Reno 911 and as a recurring sketch player in FOX’s Talk Show with Spike Feresten. She also returned to the stage for ten months performing at The Comedy Store with the sketch troupe Gumbo.

McGonagle can be seen on the web starring opposite Rachael Leigh Cook in Half Court Push, part of the Stayfree Girls In The Directors Chair series. She just finished filming The Winged Man and Short Cut to Hollywood.

Her family continues to live in Texas while McGonagle lives in Hollywood, California.
