Mark Deck

Mark Deck is a director at management consultancy PRTM. Mark earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a bachelor of science in mathematics and education from Syracuse University. Mark has lived in the Boston area since 1975.

Professional accomplishments

As a director at PRTM, Mark is responsible for the firm’s Intellectual Property and Alliance Management Group, which is comprised of the practice teams focused on PRTM’s major management consulting domains. He is on the firm’s management team and governance committee. From 1996 to 2004, Mark led the worldwide product development practice.

Mark has more than 25 years of consulting experience focused primarily on the management and development of new products and services. His expertise includes:

  • Accelerating the development and launch of major new products and services
  • Establishing processes for setting strategy
  • Balancing product portfolios
  • Allocating resources to achieve breakthrough results

Mark’s expertise also includes tapping external sources of innovation through effective co-development strategy, partner management, and project management practices. He has planned and managed product platforms and product families from initiation through mature lifecycle management and has established performance measurement and management systems that improve innovation and productivity for individual businesses and across multi-divisional enterprises. He has consulted in industry sectors as diverse as financial services, information services, communications, healthcare, and private equity.

Mark is a past president of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA), the premier international professional association focused on providing thought leadership to product development management and practitioners. Mark has been a PDMA member since 1992, and was an officer and board member for more than 10 years. MHe is also on the board of the Value Chain Group, a global, nonprofit organization that develops value chain frameworks for industry practitioners. Mark holds a certification from the PDMA as a New Product Development Professional (NPDP).
