Mario Kleff

Mario Kleff (born November 21, 1967 in Boppard, Germany) is an artist, designer and businessman based in Thailand. He is noted for making copies of pages from the 1,200 year old illuminated manuscript, The Book of Kells, located in Trinity College Dublin, and for designing a number of residences and high-rise buildings in Pattaya, Thailand.
Book of Kells
Kleff began recreating pages from The Book of Kells in 1990 and by 1997 had copied around 30 pages on parchment using equipment and pigment he manufactured himself for authenticity. His work has been exhibited and his techniques demonstrated at a number of venues in Germany, including the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz and Catholic church St. Nicholas in Bad Vilbel, Germany. Kleff is mentioned as calligrapher in the book Glanz des Mittelalters.
Career
In 2002, Kleff moved to Thailand and formed the Wandeegroup and Wandee Real Estate and Service Company Limited. These companies have been responsible for the construction of residential buildings and the design of a number of high-rise projects in Pattaya, including the 38-storey Wongamat Tower. Mario Kleff also designed and developed the 32-storey apartment block known as The Touch.
Life
Mario Kleff married Nittaya Wongsin in Pattaya in 2005. He created a number of custom motorcycles including Mod Dam 1199 R, and was nominated for PHD in architecture for the construction of Park Royal 2 with cellular beam. In 2016, Kleff was awarded Thai citizenship and given the Thai name Thiti Teerachin.
