Mario Adventure (Video Game Hack)
A video game hack is a term used for an unofficial video/computer game made by a person unrelated whatsoever to any official video/computer game company. The "unofficial" person uses a program or programs that allow people to tweak an official video game's level or levels (or part or all of a map or maps containing a route or level areas). In some cases, people have created their own levels or entire games using hacking software. Here is one such example that has become quite famous:
Mario Adventure
Mario Adventure overall
Mario Adventure is a video game hack that was created by using a SUPER Mario Brothers 3 engine. Unlike most "copycats" of video games, this closely resembles the original SMB3 with its identical sprites of Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach, familiar henchmen of Bowser, and power-ups. It also has the same music that Super Mario Brothers 3 has, making it Appear as a long lost beta version of SMB3. It even has its own manual.
Objective/Plot
Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser, again, and Mario sets off on another courageous adventure to rescue her. Unlike official Mario games, the over-world has eight sub-worlds that are all but one accessible, and a key is hidden in each sub-world (but the eighth). The goal in Mario Adventure is to find all seven keys so that Mario can access the 8th sub-world and beat Bowser. Getting to the keys are extremely difficult, and you must beat the boss in each sub-world so you may exit it to go to the next.
Familiar Power-ups
- Super Mushroom: The super mushroom is the most famous power-up of the Mario series.
- Fire Flower: This changes Mario's clothes' colors and allows Mario to shoot fireballs from his hands, quickly disintegrating most enemies (although it takes several fireballs to kill Bowser).
- Starman: Mario will be invincible and flashing many different colors as long as the power-up lasts.
- Super Leaf: This, only found (officially) in SMB3, makes Mario grow a set of raccoon ears and tail. It allows him to slowly glide down, making it much easier to evade enemies and jump over ledges.
- Kuribo’s Shoe (Goomba’s Shoe): This is another power-up only found (officially) in SMB3, and once Mario Stomps the Goomba already inside it he can use it to jump extra high.
Exclusive Power-ups
- Fire Fire Flower: It is similar to the regular fire flower except all fireballs move through the air in a simple horizontal flight pattern, even through walls! Fire Fire Mario can also jump higher than he normally could.
- Magic Wand: The magic wand turns Mario (and his clothes) completely black and white. This makes Mario jump higher than normal, shoot powerful white spinning stars that can kill several enemies (if lined up horizontally), able to jump on previously hazardous baddies such as Piranha Plants, and able to survive several hits from baddies that would normally rid him of power-ups.
- Invisibility Power: Mario can temporarily go behind scenery (such as bushes) and not get attacked when behind the scenery.
