Margrett (“Gretta”) Boley

Margrett L. ("Gretta) Boley is the Forest Supervisor of the Kisatchie National Forest in Pineville. She is responsible for all management programs on the 600,000 acres of the Kisatchie National Forest.

Background

Boley was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Prior to her current position, taking over from Lynn Neff, Boley was Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Daniel Boome National Forest in Winchester, Kentucky. Prior to this position, she served at the USDA Forest Service headquarters in Washington, DC as the Budget Coordinator and Assistant Program Leader for the soils program on Soil, Water and Air Staff. She began her career with the Forst Service in 1978 as a soil scientist. She was a soil scientist with the Coronado National Forest in Arizona and Shasta National Forest in California.

Education

Boley graduated from Southern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy. She did post graduate work in forestry at the University of Arizona.

Environmental Work

Will the supervisor of Louisiana’s Kisatchie National Forest, she has been instrumental in the building of a biomass power plant. This provides energy from wood chips for the district office, parking lot lighting and other energy needs. She is a leader in the reduction of the carbon footprint. She has started office campaigns for recycling paper, batteries, disposal of tree marking paint, oil and more that can harm the environment.
