Marcus Barone

Marcus Barone is a Motion Picture Music Supervisor and Executive, Composer, Publisher and Studio Musician.

Biography

Raised in Smithtown, New York, near New York City, Mark or "Marcus" Barone was educated at the State University of New York, Hartt College of Music and University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

In the 1980s,in New York City, Marcus became a successful recording industry studio musician/arranger (keyboards and synthesizer programming), playing on a variety of hit records.

After moving to Los Angeles California in 1985, he continued as a studio musician for most major labels specifically CBS, now SONY BMG Records, and also wrote several theme songs for Paramount Television.

In 1992, after scoring music for several motion pictures, he switched to a business emphasis, and with a full knowledge of motion pictures, he became Director of Music and Music Supervisor at Motion Picture Corporation of America / Columbia Tristar in Los Angeles, working on over 35 commercially released feature films within seven years including "Dumb and Dumber" ," Behind Enemy Lines", and "Gang Related " His duties included licensing, publishing, legal contracts and soundtracks.

In 1998, he became Executive in Charge of Music at Orion Pictures working on an additional 12 commercially released feature films

Barone operates Film Music Group /First International Pictures, a Motion Picture Music Supervison, Soundtrack, and Production Company in Los Angeles, a full staffed company working with clients including Universal , Dreamworks Records, SONY Pictures Entertainment, ABC, NBC, MTV, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures. He owns two state of the art digital recording studios both in Los Angeles and in partnership in Redwood City, CA, in Silicon Valley.

Marcus Barone is an ASCAP composer and song writer. His music publishers are MGM Pictures Music, Sony ATV Music Publishing (Sony Pictures) and Famous Music (Paramount). In 2005, he performed and won 4 Gold and Platinum Awards for the band {Lifehouse}. He also performed on the {Matt Nathanson} album. Both artists are on {Universal Records}.

Family

Marcus Barone is married to Kristin Pickett Barone, a radio broadcast reporter, singer, stage actress and dancer. They have two children both born in Ventura, California.
