Manish Joshi

Manish Joshi Bismil is a young Indian theatre director trained by the HCRFTA (a leading drama institute of India supported by the National School of Drama) under guidance of Suresh Sharma, Rajeev Manchanda, Alok Chaterjee and various famous theatre personalities of India.

Background

He started his theatre career in the small city of Hisar, India under Rajesh Kapoor and Sushil Chabra. There he took part in a number of plays and until he was admitted to the HCRFTA. After his education, he decided to make his career as a director. He directed nearly 50 full length plays for his own group Abhinaya Rang Manch, as well as for Jan Natya Manch and some plays of Natrang Socity's - Natrang Abohar. His solo performance Kahani Rangkarmi is his most acclaimed work.

He has worked with actors like Tom Altor, Zohra Segal, Nandita Das and Sushma Seth. Presently, he is working as a freelance theatre director and as a workshop consultant. His play Rangnagri won in the National theatre festival and he was awarded as Best Director and received three more awards in the same festival. Manish is the only director in India whose three plays participated in the All India Inter University festival in same year.

Puppeteer

In addition to being a theatre artist he is a noted puppeteer and children's theatre director. He has performed more than 400 puppet shows all over India.
