Mam Movies
MAM is an organization formed to promote Independent films from South Asia and to create cinema to inspire social change. Initially launched in USA, MAM currently has volunteers across the globe with its base in Mumbai. The motives of the organisation are
1. Create, develop and promote an environment that stimulates and encourages filmmakers to produce Independent films, which attempt to be the change.
2. Produce, Exhibit and Distribute innovative Independent South Asian films.
3. Build Alliances worldwide with filmmakers, film festivals and other organizations to provide visibility to the filmmakers.
4. Create a nationwide campaign by holding film festivals and screening.
The Genesis Film Project
In a time based film competition, the Genesis Film Project invited 101 filmmakers to make a 5 minute short film on 101 Local Charities in Mumbai, India within a limited time period of 101 hours. Filmmakers captured the organization's mission, their achievements, difficulties, and the heart of the people who make the organization work. Our goal with this project was - through the medium of stories - strike a chord within ourselves and other filmmakers to inspire and make films that matter. It also gives us an opportunity to connect with local charities, who have dedicated their lives for the upliftment of others. And make short videos which would later be used by them to create awareness and inspiration.
She Creates
Laadli and Mam Movies seek to get the point of view of the young girls if Mumbai and make them express their IDeaS and expiriences through the medium of films. Professionals from the industry will be invited to give workshops to children on all aspects of filmmaking which includes writing, shooting and editing.
The aim of the event is to encourage girls to get into filmmaking and use it as a medium to express their thoughts and ideas and use it to make a difference in society. This intervention hopes to provide visibility to promote a positive image of the girl child among the community and also to question and challenge the traditional beliefs that promote son preference and create awareness AbOUT falling [...] ratio and the pre-conception and pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques.
