Mahmoud Zebian
Mahmoud Zebian is a Lebanese artist.
Painter, Mahmoud Zebian was born in Lebanon, in 1943. Never been graduated left school before finishing the fifth elementary,
because the need for work. He start reading from a great selection of Booksin Science, Eastern, Ethics &
Morality, Modern, Political,poetry, Controversial literature Movements & more.And that went till 1960. Then a new stage has begun,
the stage of art. Drawing, sculpting, painting, and that stage is what he called “Passion for life”. In 1976 He became
professional. And shortly after that he got teaching job at local art school with Mr. Wahib Btadini and Mr. EmadAbouAjram.
In 1976 start exhibiting at the ministry of tourism in Beirut and that went till 1979, with lot of work I had lot of other exhibitions going on all year long with Mr. Wahib Btadini and Mr. Farid Mansour in Shweifet at the Art and Paint gallery, also at the Mir Amin Palace in Beiteddine, the National Library in Baakleen I also had lot of work done with the wood, sculpting portraits and sailboats that very in sizes from 2 inch sculpture to 6 feet sculptures, on the other side I’ve been interviewed by unnumbered of TV station and news paper like Sawt el Shouf newspaper, Liwaa Newspaper, New TV ….ext Art has been a part of my life since childhood and from the beginning I wanted to paint.My goal is to create paintings that are compelling - that somehow touch the viewer in a personal way. I strive to create paintings that cause you to feel, to hear, to smell, to live in the moment of the painting. Above all, I want to create images that have longevity; the kind of paintings that are never tiresome. I am trying to express change – life and death, growth and decay, things beginning and things ending.
The ability to work in many different condition, and create a verity of paintings in different subjects has allowed Mr Zebian to have his work seen by a much larger audience, Mr Zebian Art critics describe him as a revolutionary artist in successfully recreating the impressionism of the masters the inexhaustible source of inspiration behind his painterly work. Revisiting the impressionists with a fresh eye and his own sensibility, making the art of the impressionists the art of today.Which will put him firmly back on the map as one of the finest Lebanese Painters of the 20th century.
Zebian is currently preparing more work for his ongoing exhibition “House of painting” which is a collection of wood sculpture, oil and pastel painting. Solo exhibition of his work scheduled to open at the Los Angeles museum of Art. Mr Zebian out of his exhibition tried to increased cancer awareness and raised funds for research.
