Madonna Future Lovers

"Future Lovers" is a dance-pop song written by American singer Madonna, and Mirwais, for Madonna's tenth studio album Confessions on a Dance Floor (2005). Future Lovers also opened Madonna's highley successful Confessions Tour.

Song information

Although "Future Lovers" is an album only track, rumors suggested it would be serviced as a club-only promotional release. Although this never materialized, Madonna has stated "Future Lovers" is one of her favorite tracks off the album. Before Confessions on a Dance Floor was released, buzz surrounded the track suggesting it contained a sample from the Donna Summer single I Feel Love. "Future Lovers" certainly is inspired by this classic disco track, but contrary to popular belief, the song contains no sample but a similar bassline.

Music video

The video for "Future Lovers" was shot during the photoshoot for W Magazine and the Confessions Tour tourbook. "Future Lovers" music video's theme is disco equestrian and mocks Madonna's fall off a horse on her birthday in the summer of 2005. Another theme in this video is S&M and some fans regard this as part of her Dita-persona from her 1992 album Erotica and book [...] The original "Future Lovers" (directed by Steel) was heavily inspired by Madonna's horse fall in 2005 Most of the horses in this video are not real.

This version premiered during Madonna's Confessions Tour.

Tour

A combination of "Future Lovers" and a cover version of "I Feel Love" opened the Confessions Tour. In this performance, Madonna arrives in a disco-ball in equestrian-gear as she simulates riding her male dancers. The male dancers in this performance are dressed as horses wearing bliders and muzzles.
