Publications
Senior Partner, John J. Maalouf has co-authored Best Practices for Mergers and Acquisitions in China, 2011 EDition, which was published by Thomson West in April 2011. The book covers important issues when advising and representing clients involved in mergers and acquisitions in China. It is part of Thomson West's Inside the Minds series, where select experts provide tried and proven advice on some of the most important issues facing an industry, profession, or topic.
U.S. International Trade Policy
Maalouf Ashford & Talbot have contributed to two reports on U.S. international trade policy as a member of the Committee on International Trade, a New York City Bar Association committee. In the report, Bilateral Investment Treaties–Evolution or Regression?, the committee outlined drawbacks of previous arrangements and suggested possible improvements for future bilateral investment treaties (BIT). Similarly, in a second report, The Ramifications of the Port Security Legislation on Trade and National Security, the committee outlined factors and consequences relating to foreign direct investment and national security, and set forth standard provisions which should be included in all port security legislation.
