Luxembourg Fund Labelling Agency (LuxFLAG)
The Luxembourg Fund Labelling Agency (Luxflag) is an independent, non profit making, association that aims to promote the raising of capital for microfinance.
This is done by awarding a label to eligible Microfinance Investment Vehicles (MIV). The objective of this label is to reassure investors that the MIV actually invests, directly or indirectly, in the microfinance sector.
The agency was created in Luxembourg on 20 July 2006 by seven local institutions: the European Investment Fund (EIF), the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association (ABBL), the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, the Financial Technology Transfer Agency (ATTF), the Appui au Développement Autonome (ADA), the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance and the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On 14 December 2009, Luxembourg for Finance, the financial sector promotion agency, joined as a member.
The honorary president of LuxFLAG is Maria Teresa, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg. The association's secretarial functions are carried out by the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI).
