Los Roques Restaurante

Los Roques Restaurante is a Michelin Listed restaurant in the village of Los Abrigos, Tenerife, Spain run by owner Peter Borg and Head Chef Sebastián Rodríguez, this small restaurant is located directly on the harbour side of this traditional fishing port and has been voted one of Tenerife's best restaurants.

The restaurant is open for Dinner five days a week, Tuesday to Saturday and is closed for Annual Vacations in June and two weeks in December.

Food and Wine

The food served at Los Roques Restaurante is modern in nature but uses traditional cooking and curing methods to create an interesting balance of local flavours. The restaurant has a good selection of local wines as well as some of the better known international offerings.

Providence

The Canary Islands due to their temperate climate offer a wide selection natural produce. The meats produced on the islands include Pork, Chicken, Ostrich, Goat, Rabbit and Lamb and the locally caught fish include Sea Bass (Lubina), Sea Bream (Dorada), Sardines and Mackerel. While some products have to be imported the large majority of the produce used by the restaurant is sourced from the Canary Islands.

History

The village of Los Abrigos is well known locally as a place to eat fresh fish and the Harbour has twelve restaurants in total, with nine of these serving fish. In 2005 the current owners purchased the restaurant, which at that time was an Italian restaurant called Antigua Italia. After an extensive refurbishment, Los Roques Restaurante opened on Tuesday 4th October 2005. It was listed in the Michelin Guide in its first year of opening.
