Lola Heatherton
Lola Heatherton was a fictional character on the late '70s/early '80s comedy program SCTV, portrayed by Catherine O'Hara and based largely on Joey Heatherton and Lola Falana. Although attractive and successful in Las Vegas, Joey Heatherton's singing and dancing performances, along with tabloid reports of personal problems with alcohol, drugs and relationships became regular grist for SCTV. When complimented, or in response to audience applause, the character's regular catchphrase was "I love you! I want to bear your children!"
Lola was a regular "guest" on SCTV's The Sammy Maudlin Show, usually seen promoting her latest project, or denying the latest tabloid reports about her personal life. A 1981 "live special," Bouncin' Back to You, was written as a trainwreck, with a visibly drunk Lola throwing away rehearsed numbers in favor of a morose ballad about her former lover, SCTV station manager Guy Caballero. This sketch (which, later in the episode, was revealed to have been a dream) was based on some of Judy Garland's live appearances towards the end of her life.
