Livinguard Better Fresh
Livinguard Better Fresh, marketed under the tradename Livinguard BF, is a textile finishing treatment produced by Livinguard Technologies AG. It was introduced in 2025 by Livinguard Technologies AG, a Swiss materials science company.
Livinguard Better Fresh is a water-based finishing treatment applied after dyeing during textile manufacturing to fabric or garments. The product is primarily used to provide odor control functionality while at the same time reducing microfiber shedding from textiles. The Livinguard Better Fresh technology works by functionalizing textile surfaces through a permanent positive chemical surface charge derived from a proprietary BLEND of cationic polymers. The solution is reported to electrostatically attract odor compounds and then neutralize them through a chemical reaction converting them into odorless salts. This mode of action differs from antimicrobial odor control technologies which target to prevent odor build-up by [...] odor-causing bacteria or odor capture technologies that absorb odors through mesoporous high-surface-area particles.
Livinguard Technologies states that the solution has been successfully tested for deodorant properties as per ISO 17299 and has shown efficacy to neutralize a broad range of odorants including Isovaleric Acid, Acetic Acid, Nonenal, Indole, and Ammonia. Furthermore, the company markets the solution as highly wash-durable for up to 100x home laundries as per AATCC 135. The company claims that testing under relevant protocols such as AATCC TM 212, ISO 4484, or DIN SPEC 4872 showed reductions in fiber fragment release of up to 80% by weight and by number.
The company states that Livinguard Better Fresh can be applied across different materials and fabric constructions within existing finishing processes, and that it does not require special equipment or training. The company has described it as a cost-effective option to tackle fiber fragmentation over the textile’s total lifecycle.
Applications include everyday apparel, formal wear, reusable personal hygiene products, home furnishings and upholstery, household textiles, pet products, uniforms and workwear, underwear and base layers, sportswear, shoes, and outdoor gear.
