Liverpool Chester Bike Ride
The Liverpool Chester Bike Ride is the largest mass participation cycle ride in Merseyside and Cheshire. The route starts and finishes by St George's Hall, Liverpool. The 84km route includes exclusive use of Mersey Tunnel, the beautiful Wirral and the north Cheshire villages of Thornton Hough, Willaston, Parkgate, Heswall and also a halfway stop at Countess of Chester Health Park. There are also the options of finishing in Chester (48km) and a Wirral circular loop (41km).
The ride is held annually on the first weekend of July, however in 2007 the ride date was slipped a further 7 days due to the Grand Depart of the Tour de France being held in London. In 2006 a record entry of 2,200 riders particpated with each one raising money for local charities.
In 2008 the event will take place on Sunday 6th July and is expected that once again over 2000 will take part in what is Liverpool's European Capital of Culture year.
