Lithuanian NGDO Platform

National Non-Governmental Development Cooperation Organisations’ Platform (NGDO Platform) brings together 19 Lithuanian organisations working in the field of development cooperation. NGDO Platform was established on March 29, 2007.

Goals of Lithuanian NGDO Platform

  • Public awareness raising and civic education;
  • Increasing opportunities for Lithuanian NGOs to participate in international development cooperation;
  • Representation of NGDO Platform in Lithuania, European Union (EU) level and at other international organisations;
  • Active participation in shaping and implementing Lithuanian and EU development cooperation policies;
  • Developing and strengthening the capacities of the NGDO Platform and its member organisations.

Fields of Activity

NGDO Platform aims at shaping and implementing Lithuanian and EU development cooperation policies, strengthening the capacities of its member organisations, raising public awareness and knowledge about development cooperation via public events and educational campaigns. As part of Lithuanian Umbrella NGDO Platform is an active member of the European confederation of Relief and Development NGOs CONCORD, closely cooperates with NGDO platforms in Ireland, Scandinavia and the Baltic states.

Lithuanian NGDO Platform is working towards policy proposals on global education, aspires to initiate systematic and long-term implementation of global education in both formal and non-formal education systems in Lithuania.

Database

At the end of 2013, Lithuanian NGDO Platform presented an electronic NGO database listing Lithuanian NGOs involved in development cooperation and development education activities. In this database one can find the profiles and best practice case studies of the Lithuanian NGOs, their contact details, area of specialty and records of past activities with the information grouped into categories of good governance, sustainable development and crisis prevention and recovery.
