List of spells and potions in Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (TV series)

This is a list of spells and potions that are used throughout the 1996-2003 teenage sitcom, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. Throughout the series, Sabrina and her aunts cast some of the strangest spells imaginable. At times, the rhymes they uttered to cast the spell sounded weird. Many spells were used only once. Here's a few of them.

Spells

Double Time Spell Sabrina decided to use this to finish her 6 page essay on her first day of college when she was minutes away from her first class the next day. She ran around like The Flash doing everything in fast motion, getting dressed, once she finished everything, she turned the spell off. Only to see that she sucked the time out of Miles and Roxy making them move in slow motion. Sabrina had to get Zelda and Hilda to restore them to normal with a sip of espresso and a thump to the heart.

Cloning (used in A Halloween Story): Sabrina wanted to go to a party Harvey was throwing, but Zelda wanted her to come to a family event instead. Sabrina stormed up to her room in a huff, and Salem told her AbOUT a spell that would create a clone of her. Sabrina originally planned to send her clone to the family event, but Salem told her her aunts would spot the switch in no time. The double can only say three sentences. Hilda used this spell to try and avoid going to the family gathering, but Zelda spotted the switch. Magic Words: "Double, bubble, toil and trouble". After uttering these words, Sabrina had to step aside to create her clone.

"I Got You Babe" Spell (used in What's News): Sabrina used this spell to get Mike, her boss, back together with his wife. When the spell was cast, Salem and Sabrina became Sonny & Cher, singing the duos biggest hit (hence The Title). Sabrina used her laptop to cast this spell.

Prognosis-Hypnosis Spell (used in What Price Harvey?): When cousin Zsa Zsa came to visit, Sabrina became upset at learning Harvey had no intention of going to college, and bought all of Zsa Zsa's Ambition products. Because they smelled foul, Sabrina knew Harvey would never try them willingly, she had to apply them to him herself with disastarous results; Harvey became a ruthless multi-millionaire who planned to build power plants and knock Westbridge High down. Salem recommended this spell to Sabrina. Sabrina appears to Harvey in spirit form (like in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol), and shows him his future, ending with his funeral where people are celebrating and not grieving. The spell didn't work.

Mum's the Word Spell (used in Silent Movie): When Zelda became excited over believing Mr. Kraft was going to propose to her, Sabrina and Hilda took drastic action to keep themselves from ruining the evening. Because she had gotten a hanging nail in her pointing finger (the finger the witches use to cast their spells), Hilda couldn't use her magic, so Sabrina used hers to cast a Mums the Word Spell on Hilda. Under this spell, Hilda could only say "Mum". Which then had some weird effect of turning the house interior into a silent movie. Where Mr. Kraft became the villain and Harvey became a Mountie while Salem played the music on a piano. Magic Words: "So nothing unkind will be heard, just remember, mum's the word".

Potions

Just Desserts (used in Trial By Fury): When Sabrina's maths teacher, Mr. Rothwell made her take a math test in front of the whole class, Sabrina began brewing a potion to get her own back. Until she found the perfect spell, she kept making his butt bigger. After Hilda and Zelda saw what Mr. Rothwell was like, they helped Sabrina with her revenge spell. Mr. Rothwell got busted for speeding and at his trial, he revealed to the judge (a witch) that he was planning to start his own Software company. Rothwell was sentenced to a lifetime of teaching high school algebra. Magic Words: "Adders fork, and blindworms sting. Lizards leg, and howlets wing. For a charm of powerful trouble, fire burn, and cauldron bubble. Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Hover through fog and filthy air".

Oil of Old Age (used in Aging Not So Gracefully): Sabrina used this lotion to try and make herself look older so Josh would show interest in her. It seemed like a good idea at first, but she soon began to turn into an old woman. Also, when Sabrina looked in the mirror, she couldn't see her true reflection. Sabrina was cured after drinking some prune juice. Paula Abdul guest starred in this episode.

Other conditions

Punitis: In Dante's Inferno, Hilda contracted punitis, a condition where things the sufferer says become puns. Hilda tried to conjure up ice cream and she got an eye screaming. Also, she asked Zelda if the cat got her tongue, and it ended up in Salem's paw. Zelda cooked up a remedy to cure Hilda, but it didn't work. Hilda also ended up turning Zelda's date into a deer after saying "He's a real dear". Davy Jones of The Monkees guest starred in this episode.

Jelitosis: In Jealousy, Harvey started spending more time with Brad, making Sabrina increasingly jealous. She developed jelitosis, a condition where jealousy runs out of control. She wore dark glasses to hide her eyes which were glowing green. Eventually, Sabrina's jealousy boiled over, and she had a day dream where she found herself in the Jealous Sea where Salem told her she had everything, and everyone else had nothing. Sabrina liked the idea at first, but after seeing her classmates sweeping the floor, she changed her mind, especially after Harvey told Sabrina he didn't have a best friend anymore. Sabrina didn't want Harvey to go through what she went through when Valerie moved away. Sabrina then awoke from her dream cured. However, Zelda had this problem at the same time, but because she was older and more mature than Sabrina, Zelda found it easier to control her jealousy. However, she blew her top when she learned Mr. Kraft's brother Wally was taking Hilda to the ballet because she had mentioned it to Mr. Kraft months before, and green ash gushed out of the top of her head. American figure skater, Tara Lipinski guest starred in this episode.

Molecular Instability: In When Teens Colide, sunspots caused an outbreak of molecular instability. Hilda bumped into Zelda, whose arm then got attached to Hilda. Because Sabrina was half-mortal, it had a different effect on her; her ponytail ended up on the front on her head, but the worst was yet to come. Later, a collision with Libby caused both their personalities to change; Libby became kind and caring, and Sabrina became mean and vicious; she even used her magic to make Mr. Kraft's pants fall down around his ankles. Noticing a change in Sabrina's behaviour, Salem convinced her to use her powers to take over the world. This almost ended in disaster as Sabrina was arrested and put on trial, and almost turned into a cat. Salem then realized that because of the sunspots, Sabrina and Libby had swapped personalities. Salem ordered a pizza from the Other Realm so he could get to the trial and provide the judge with the evidence that would clear Sabrina.

Bat Breath: In To Tell a Mortal, Hilda came down with a dose of bat breath (bats fly out of her mouth). Zelda cooked up a remedy which replaced Hilda's bat breath with bass breath. Zelda was able to cure her by giving her a breath mint. Later, she gave Hilda a pack of breath mints that had a picture of Hilda with a bat coming out of her mouth; beneath the picture it read "Kills Hildatosis". Hilda was not amused.

Frog Transformation: In the episode First Kiss, Sabrina and Harvey were looking at a book with pictures of famous people, including one of Whoopi Goldberg in a bathtub of milk. As Sabrina turned the page, her hand brushed against Harvey's, and sparks exploded between them. As they leaned in to kiss each other, Salem, who had been spying on them from the stairs, jumped between them. Sabrina took Salem into the kitchen to give him a good telling off for spying on her, but Salem told her the sparks were a warning, and told her not to kiss Harvey. Sabrina later talked to her aunts, and learned that when a witch kisses a mortal for the first time, the mortal turns into a frog. However, they gave her a GLIMPSE of hope by telling her that because she was half-mortal, there would be a 50-50 chance of Harvey turning into a frog. Unfortunately, when Sabrina kissed him, Harvey did change into a frog. To change him back, Sabrina had to pass three tests. She succeeded, but she had to return to the scene of the kiss, and kiss the frog.

Warts: In Sabrina Through the Looking Glass, Sabrina, in her haste, knocked her biosphere off her table, and as she bent down to pick it up, she felt a pain in her forehead. When she looked in the mirror, she saw a wart on her forehead. From Zelda, she learned that warts were caused by stress, but it will disappear when she calms down. Hilda gave Sabrina a baseball cap to hide the wart, but Sabrina remained in a bad mood. At lunch, Libby stole her cap, revealing the wart. Sabrina caused it to snow, then turned Libby into a goat before running home. While staring at herself in the mirror, Sabrina's reflection came to life and invited her to come into the world on the other side of the mirror where everything was reversed. Unfortunately, she was now trapped in her own bad mood. Baseball player, Brady Anderson appears, and tells Sabrina that in order to get home, she has to make amends - and that includes changing Libby back from being a goat. However, in this reverse world, everybody was unhappy; even Hilda was under the weather (literally). Sabrina conjured up a giant flaun for everyone, and gave some to her aunts and Salem when she got back to the house. Her task completed, Sabrina walked through her mirror, and got home.
