List of selectmen of Lakeville, Massachusetts

This is a list of Selectmen of Lakeville, Massachusetts and election results, where available. Lakeville was originally a part of Middleborough, and did not incorporate itself (and therefore did not elect members to its Board of Selectmen) until 1853.

Selectmen currently serve terms of three years each, and those terms are staggered to ensure that only one member is up for re-election in any given year. In 2005, Nancy Yeatts became the first woman to hold the position of Selectman in Lakeville, giving the town a record of 152 years of all-male leadership.

In 2004, attempts to limit Selectmen to a total of two terms (or, six years) failed, and inspired a similar failed attempt in Freetown in 2005.

Municipal elections in Lakeville are held in April.

In 2006, Charles Evirs, Jr., won outgoing selectman Chawner Hurd's seat after fending off several challengers.

2005

In 2005, Nancy Yeatts defeated Stephen Olivier to become Lakeville's first female selectman and replace retiring selectman Gerald R. White.

2004

In 2004, incumbent selectman Richard F. LaCamera held his seat despite a write-in challenge from Linda Grubb. A third candidate, Thomas W. Dunlevy, Jr., dropped from the race but received 88 votes due to his name remaining on

the ballot.

2003

In 2003, incumbent selectman Chawner Hurd secured a third term against challenger Stephen Olivier.

2002

In 2002, incumbent selectman Gerald R. White defeated challenger Michael Murphy to secure a fourth term.

2001

In 2001, incumbent Richard F. LaCamera was re-elected without contest.

2000

In 2000, incumbent Selectman Chawner Hurd defeated write-in candidate Barry Linton to secure a second term.

1999

In 1999, incumbent Gerald R. White secured a third term, defeating challenger Andrew J. Economos.

1998

In 1998, Finance Committee chairman Richard LaCamera defeated four challengers to secure the seat left vacant by the death of Selectman George Rose in November, 1997.

1997

In 1997, incumbent selectman Walter A. Crosby was defeated in his bid for a second term by challenger Chawner Hurd.

1996

In 1996, incumbent Gerald White was elected to a second term, defeating challenger Chawner Hurd.
