During the history of the United States, many presidential relatives have been noted in the media, often because of their "controversial", "scandalous" or otherwise notable behavior.

  • Billy Carter - brother
    • Spokesman and inspiration for Billy Beer. 9
    • Claimed he could drink 20-30 cans of beer each day.
    • Travelled to Libya in 1978, a time of strained relations between The Two countries, and hosted a Libyan delegation in Atlanta, Georgia. 10

  • Donald Nixon - brother
    • Howard Hughes loaned Donald $205,000 to bail out his drive-in restaurant in Whittier, California. The restaurant (called "Nixon's") served up a delicacy named the Nixonburger. It went bankrupt less than a year later, and the loan was never repaid. 11

    • Used to get drunk and talk to the press until the Secret Service put him under surveillance. 12

    • Was institutionalized because of a failed 1941 lobotomy, which was in response to mild mental retardation.15

Relatives of Franklin Delano Roosevelt - 32nd President

  • Tadd Roosevelt nephew of Franklin Roosevelt, son of his much older half-brother, James Roosevelt (Rosy).
    • Tadd was AbOUT the same age as Franklin and they attended Harvard at the same time. However Tadd dropped out, moved to New York, and married a Hungarian born prostitute with whom he stayed until her death forty years later. He was disowned by his father and all relations with the family were ended. He never touched the inheritance left from his grandmother's side of the family (the Astors, unrelated to Franklin) and left it all to the Salvation Army upon his death.
