Libraries in Barking and Dagenham provide the specialist collections, within Greater London for journalism, lithography and printing.

Services

Situated near the Town Hall, the Barking Learning Centre is a learning facility Providing a range of courses leading to recognised qualifications. It also includes a library with free public internet access, the Council's First One Stop Shop, conference and meeting space, a gallery and a café.

Internet access is provided in all local libraries, and a variety of e-books and reference sources can be accessed from the Internet, using the library card.

Loan items include: Books, Large print, Books on tape, Books on CD Language courses, Music CDs, DVDs, Videos, Newspapers, Magazines, Sheet music and Vocal scores. A small loan fee may be levied for non-book materials.

There is a local history centre in the Valence House Museum, with a number of free information sheets on local subjects.
