List of Lego Island characters
The following is a list of characters who appear in the video games Lego Island and Lego Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge.
Main Characters
Pepper Roni
Pepper Roni is the adopted son of Mama and Papa Brickolini. He is usually seen riding his skateboard around the island. School-wise, Pepper is excellent at mathematics, but reading, writing, and spelling are all quite the contraries for him. He works at Brickolini's Pizzeria, as a pizza delivery "dude," often referring to himself as "the dude with the food."
Pepper is a playable character in Lego Island and its sequel, Lego Island 2; in the case of the latter, he is the only playable character. While playing as Pepper in Lego Island, the player can click on certain items and change them. He can change flowers into trees or streetlights, and can change people's hats into various items, including different hats, wigs, a cat, and a pizza. In Lego Island 2, he can also change trees and flowers into many other objects, including cactuses and signs. He can also travel to different islands surrounding Lego Island, on his skateboard.
In Lego Island 2, he is given a scruffier look to match his skater lifestyle. His profile card lists his occupation as "pizza delivery dude!".
Mama Brickolini
Mama Brickolini is Pepper's adopted mother. Mama, along with Papa Brickolini, own the Brickolini Pizzeria, the only restaurant on the island. Mama is an immigrant, having come to America with only the clothes on her back and her piano. She specializes in music, and in Lego Island, is often seen playing the piano in front of the restaurant. She is, however, terribly nearsighted.
Mama Brickolini appears in both Lego Island games. In the case of the original, she is a playable character. In Lego Island, when the player is a character besides Mama, she and Papa are seen walking around on the island.
Her profile card in Lego Island 2 lists her occupation as "musician."
Papa Brickolini
Papa Brickolini is Pepper's adopted father. Papa, along with Mama Brickolini, own Brickolini's Pizzeria. Papa is the island's main chef, as Brickolini's is the only restaurant on the island (a fact that Papa often takes pride in). Papa often wears a tuxedo-like vest and a chef's hat, and is very coordinated. He can even juggle pizzas. He is also a very good dancer, but horrible at singing (though he still tries).
Papa Brickolini appears in both Lego Island games. In Lego Island, he is also a playable character, and if the player is a character besides Papa, he can be seen at the Pizzeria and walking around the island with Mama.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "pizza chef."
The Infomaniac
The Infomaniac is the creator of Lego Island and all who inhabit it, including the Brickster. In Lego Island and Lego Island 2, he also acts as a guide for the player. In the former, he can be reached at his headquarters -- the Information Center -- and in the latter, he can be reached whenever the SHIFT key is held down. He claims to know everything -- "...well, almost everything." However, he has a tendency to lose his train of thought. Along with the Brickolinis, he has been on Lego Island for 4,785 years.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "creator of Lego Island."
The Brickster
The Brickster is the main antagonist of both Lego Island games. He is mostly seen in his jail cell, the only jail cell on the island, located next to the police station (in Lego Island 2, his cell is located behind the station). He was initially constructed by the Infomaniac as his first friend, but when the Infomaniac began to work on more, the Brickster became furious, and escaped to create his own island -- Ogel Island. His main goal is to de-construct the island, and will attempt to do so if Pepper delivers pizza to him at his jail cell. His only means of escape is the helicopter built by the player in the first game and used by the player in the first and second.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "trickster."
Nick Brick
Officer Nick Brick is one of Lego Island's police officers. He has an extremely impressive memory, remembering everything he sees and hears. Nick's mannerisms and speech patterns are based on those of Joe Friday, the police sergeant in the Dragnet franchise. He is usually seen patrolling the island on foot or on a motorcycle. His one drawback is the lack of a nose; as a result, he cannot detect a scent. (It must be noted that no character -- or their physical minifigure counterpart -- has a visible nose.) His favorite food is frosted doughnuts and his favorite color is brown
Nick makes appearances in both Lego Island and Lego Island 2. In Lego Island, he is a playable character, and can change the color of people's parts (legs, shirt, hats, etc.) as well as flowers and trees.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "detective."
Laura Brick
Officer Laura Brick is another of Lego Island's police officers, and is the sister of fellow officer Nick Brick. Laura is noted for her kindness, and believes that everyone has a friend in Laura Brick. Her one drawback is her inability to use numbers, as in do mathematical equations, or even count.
Laura makes appearances in both Lego Island games. In the original, she is a playable character, and can change people's moods. When not the main character, she often patrols the island on a motorcycle.
Her profile card in Lego Island 2 lists her occupation as "police officer."
Supporting Characters
Both Games
Bill Ding
Bill Ding appears in both Lego Island and Lego Island 2, and serves two different purposes in both games. In Lego Island, he acts as an assistant to the player when he or she wants to build a vehicle (the dune buggy at the garage, the race car at the race track, the helicopter at the police station, or the jet ski at the beach). Occasionally, he can also be seen wandering around the island. In Lego Island 2, his role is relegated to that of a supporting player, and his primary hangout is now the Octan Gas Station. Bill Ding also builds any building in the game.
Dr. Clickitt
Dr. Clickitt is the chief medical practitioner on Lego Island, and works at the hospital. He becomes angry whenever someone refers to his profession as a "practice," claiming he doesn't need practice.
Clickitt appears in both games. His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "doctor."
Nubby Stevens
Nubby Stevens works at the Octan Gas Station in both games, along with Nancy Nubbins. He is often found pondering the mysteries of life in Lego Island, and also makes an appearance in Lego Island 2. In the former, he asks for help in driving his tow truck, often.
A joke he often says pertains to his and the other minifigures' lack of elbows. "What's an elbow anyway?"
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "garage attendant."
Nancy Nubbins
Nancy Nubbins is the owner of the Octan Gas Station, along with Nubby Stevens. She wears a red cowboy hat (brown in Lego Island 2) and speaks in a Texas-esque accent. She works around the clock at the gas station and never gets tired.
Her profile card in Lego Island 2 lists her occupation as "garage owner."
Margaret P. "Maggie" Post
Maggie Post is the owner of the Super Store on Lego Island. In the first game, she is in charge of the store's remodeling mission, and asks the player for help (though the store never seems to be remodeled). In the second, she is still the owner of the store, which has now been interlocked with the post office.
Her profile card in Lego Island 2 lists her occupation as "grocery shop keeper."
Ed Mail
Ed Mail is the island's mailman. In the first game, he is seen doing his never ending rounds on the island, and often deprecates his profession, saying he "[has] to work all the time" and that he'd "rather be jet skiing or racing," but his job always ends up being "good...[he] suppose[s]." His post office is closed in the first game for unknown reasons, and Mail himself never makes any reference to it. In the second game, his post office has been interlocked with Maggie Post's Super Store, and he is portrayed as an uppity mailman who does not like to be disturbed. His brother is Doctor Clickitt.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "post man."
Valerie Stubbins
Valerie Stubbins is a resident of the island in both games. In the first, she spends most of her free time at the beach. She speaks in the style of a Californian surfer, taking notice of all the "humongo" sharks, and also races jet skis. In the second, she works as a lifeguard at the ResQ Center, where three boats and a helicopter are available for access. She is horrible at her job, and doesn't pay attention to it.
Her profile card in Lego Island 2 lists her occupation as "life guard."
Snap Lockitt
Snap Lockitt is another beach-lover on Lego Island. In the first game, he is similar to Valerie Stubbins, speaking similar to a Californian surfer and racing jet skis (in fact, he is in charge of jet ski races). He is seen with a hat in Lego Island and with raised hair in Lego Island 2. His only appearance in the latter game is at a nightclub-like house, where people dance to music.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "ResQ surf dude!", implying he works for the same company as Valerie Stubbins.
Red Greenbase
Red Greenbase is a pedestrian on Lego Island. In the first game, he is seen walking rather aimlessly around the island, and also spends his time at the beach, along with having a German accent. In the second game, he dances to music with Snap and Rhoda and has an American accent. He likes to listen to the jukebox and heap himself on pizzas. His legs are green and his shirt and hat are both red; all of these details contribute to his name.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "gardener."
Rhoda Hogg
Rhoda Hogg is a race car driver on Lego Island. In the first game, she spends her time at the Octan Race Track, and the player can race against her and Studs Linkin. She trades insults with the player and also wanders around the island. In the second game, she dances to music with Red and Snap.
Her profile card in Lego Island 2 lists her occupation as "race driver."
Jack O'Trades
Jack O'Trades is a member of the Flying Legandos, a circus troupe-like group who performs regularly in the park area on Lego Island. He is the only character from the group to appear in both games. In the first game, he is seen juggling heads and making human pyramids as part of his team. In the second, he is given a higher responsibility, as the owner of the Hyper Mart. In both, he wears a red shirt with the "O" from the LEGO logo on it.
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "Hyper-Mart owner," effectively disregarding his past life as a Flying Legando.
Mr. DJ Radio/DJ
The DJ of the island's radio station, L.E.G.O. Radio, is heard in one game and both heard and seen in the second. In the first game, he is referred to as "Mr. DJ Radio" and is only heard on the radio inside the Information Center. In the second, he is known simply as "DJ" and can interact with the main character (Pepper).
His profile card in Lego Island 2 lists his occupation as "Lego Island DJ."
Lego Island
Buck Pounds
Buck Pounds is the owner of Lego Island's only bank, which is closed for remodeling. He is mostly seen walking around the island and questioning phrases such as "laughing all the way to the bank."
Enter and Return
Enter and Return are the paramedics at Lego Island's hospital. They are assistants of Dr. Clickitt who really aren't fit to be of any profession, doing such wacky things as stuffing umbrellas, sharks and trees into the ambulance. However, they always manage to get the job done (the "job" effectively being as nonsensical -- if not more -- than the duo themselves).
Studs Linkin
Studs Linkin is the star race car driver on Lego Island. He is the son of the (presumably) late race car driver, Hot Rod Linkin, and is very egotistical.
Dorothy and Glen Funberg
Dorothy and Glen are the married couple seen driving around the Lego Island race track. They usually have some dialog relating to their being lost and thinking the race track is some sort of freeway.
Captain D. Rom
Captain D. Rom is the police captain on Lego Island. Taking the first letter of "Captain" and adding it to the rest of his name will spell out the term "CD-ROM," as a reference to the game itself. He is the only police officer to have the "generic" face -- a pair of sunglasses and a smile -- seen on police minifigures of the era. He is somewhat mixed-up; once he sees the player he will order an arrest, then will recognize the player immediately. He also patrols the island gleefully shouting, "Hup-2-3-4, Brickster's locked behind closed doors!"
Captain Click's Skeleton
Captain Click -- or, rather, his skeleton -- was a pirate from Lego Island's history. He is entombed in the cave by the residential area, but he still manages to escape and offer the player helpful tips. He can be heard in both the cave and on the third floor of the Information Center.
Mr. Super
Mr. Super is a rather mysterious pedestrian who works at the Super Store. He always wears some sort of hat, and often travels around on his bike. Although he works at the store, he is hardly seen there and never mentions it except in a radio announcement. The announcement implies that the store sells hats, while LEGO Island 2 -- in which Mr. Super never appears -- implies that it's a grocery store. It is also possible that the store sells all items.
Mr. and Mrs. Pollywanna
The Pollywannas are parrots on Lego Island who always manage to appear in the most random of places. These can range from on someone's head to inside a car (in this case, the tow truck). The Pollywannas belong to Margaret P. Post.
The Flying Legandos
The Flying Legandos are a circus troupe-like team who perform in the park area in the middle of Lego Island. They wear red muscle shirts with a letter from Lego's official logo in the middle. The troupe consists of Gideon Worse, Polly Gone, Bradford Brickford, Shiney Doris, Bumpy Kindergreen, and Jack O'Trades, and specializes in making human pyramids and juggling each other's heads. Also, Jack O'Trades can be seen walking around the island separately on occasion.
O'Trades can also be seen in Lego Island 2 in his usual uniform, but all references to the Flying Legandos have been eliminated.
Sandy
Sandy is a generic character who wanders around the Island. She apparently drives faster than the racing drivers (for which Nick Brick reprimands her for) and tends to hang around with Red Greenbase. The manual states that she is the grandmother of Pepper (although this is not referenced in the game)
Lego Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge
Darren, Rich, Steve, and Rob
Darren, Rich Pickings, Steve Hen, and Rob Banks are all employees of a Software company on Lego Island. Each one of the members are named and modeled after their human counterparts, who helped produce Lego Island 2. Darren and Rich live in a separate house from Steve and Rob; only the house belonging to the latter two can be accessed. Darren and Rich's car, however, is available for use near the building. Rob is the island's practical joker, while Darren, Rich and Steve have rather generic personalities.
Darren's profile card lists his occupation as "producer;" Rich's lists his occupation as "designer;" Steve's lists his occupation as "programmer;" Rob's lists his occupation as "artist." All of these were the occupations of the real-life Darren, Rich, Steve and Rob.
Technician Bob
Technician Bob is in charge of the Space Port, atop a huge mountain on Lego Island. The Space Port was just one of many new additions to the island for Lego Island 2, and it and Technician Bob were added in as a reference to the "space" sets of the era.
Technician Bob's profile card lists his occupation as "space technician."
Pete Bog
Pete Bog is the assistant to Dr. Clickett in Lego Island 2, replacing Enter and Return from the original game. However, Bog is dressed more similarly to a police officer than a medical assistant, and is not as clown-like in attitude as Enter and Return. It has been speculated that Bog was originally to be Captain D. Rom, who was to return from the original game.
Bog's profile card lists his occupation as "doctor's assistant."
Super Station Master
The Super Station Master is a superheroic station master who is in charge of Lego Island's two train stations. He has the ability to fly and to "rescue" the main character, and land him on the nearest helicopter pad if the main character is AbOUT to step off of the train while it is still running or if the main character is about to get hit by the train. He is based on the Station Master from Lego Loco, who also had the ability to transform into a superhero.
The Super Station Master's profile card lists his occupation as "station master."
Other characters
Other characters appear in the game as incredibly minor roles. These characters are more familiar minifigures from the various lego sets and themes of the era, including Adventurers and space- and castle-related sets.
- King Leo is the king of the Lions' castle. He wants to occupy the Bulls' castle (not seen in the real-life sets) and has initiated war to do so. He is very grateful to Pepper for his help and even proclaimed a "Pepper Day."
- Queen Leonara is the queen of the Lions' castle and King Leo's wife. Like her husband, she is very grateful for Pepper's help.
- Princess Storm is the princess of the Lions' castle. She has white eyes, unlike her real-life minifigure counterpart, and she wants to become a knight.
- Dark Knight is the best jouster that the Bulls have. The Lions set Pepper an ordeal that their stolen Bulls flag, which Pepper intended to exchange for the Constructopedia page flag on Bulls' castle, will be given if he defeats the Dark Knight in a joust. The Dark Knight is known to have never lost before jousting with Pepper and be depressed after the loss.
- Cedric the Bull is one of the game's three antagonists and attacks Pepper with cannon balls while taking the Constructopedia page from atop the Bulls' castle. Pepper defeats him and catapults him while recovering the page.
- Johnny Thunder is the lead character in the Adventurers theme. He is an Indiana Jones-esque archaeologist and ace photographer from Australia. He and his partners would assist Pepper on his search for the Contructopedia pages.
- Pippin Reed is a journalist and partner of Johnny Thunder. She has fun in making markers to help.
- Dr. Kilroy is the senior professor of the National Museum and is interested in ancient civilizations and cultures. He can be a bit absent-minded at times and is prone to heat-exposure, along with being able to talk to dinosaurs.
- Mr. Hates, aka. Baron von Barron and Sam Sinister, is one of the game's three antagonists and a friend of the Brickster. Once a general, he is greedy and collects anything he considers valuable for himself, making a dispute between him and Johnny Thunder. He hates Pepper just as much as he hates Johnny and even managed to get himself a Constructopedia page, which Pepper took through freeing his captive dinosaurs, sand-bagging him, and threatening to beat him up.
