List of film series and adaptations nominated for Academy Awards

This is a page highlights feature-length and short film series or franchise and adaptations nominated for or won Academy Awards.

In alphabetical order, only nominations more than once with remakes different thematic series by the same auteur or the same continuity must have included on the list with inclusions:

  • Sequels, spin-offs and companion pieces of the same continuity is included but much have included original or either sequel in the list.
  • Adaptations from source materials in the same continuity like Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and Denis Villeneuve's Dune, which have been adapted a two-part story or more than one source material in the same continuity.
  • Different versions or remake adaptations from the source material (e.g. the 1930 and 2022 film versions were adapted from the novel All Quiet on the Western Front) is included.
  • In most winners and nominations below the list, remake adaptations from the source material are allowed to consist overall as a whole franchise.

    Film series

    The Godfather Part II and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King are the only sequels to have won the award, and their respective trilogies are the only series to have three films nominated.
