List of Digimon Savers characters and concepts

The following is a list of characters and concepts from the anime series Digimon Savers, a television series from the Digimon franchise. Individual human and Digimon characters are listed here, as well as concepts, items, and organizations unique to the series.

Main Characters

• Masaru Daimon (大門　大 Daimon Masaru) and Agumon: The main character of the series, Masaru is the son of the researcher, Suguru Daimon, who disappeared into the mysterious realm known as the Digital World almost 10 years ago. Loud and outspoken, Masaru calls himself "the number one street fighter in Japan." After encountering Agumon, he becomes the Digimon's partner after receiving a Digivice from the mysterious old man, Hiroshi Yushima. Masaru and Agumon later become members of DATS in order to face stronger and stronger opponents.

• Tohma H. Norstein (トーマ・H・ノルシュタイン) and Gaomon: Tohma H. Norstein is a half-German, half-Japanese young man, and a child prodigy. An Olympic-level boxer and a genius scholarly and tactically, he is a vital member of the DATS team. When Masaru joined DATS, Touma was away in Europe, and when they finally met, they were at odds. However, they overcame their difficulties, and have since become steady team-mates. Gaomon is Touma's loyal digimon partner, and is a focused and serious-minded warrior.

• Yoshino Fujieda (藤枝 淑乃 Fujieda Yoshino) and Lalamon: Yoshino is the third member of the core team, as well as the oldest. She and her partner Lalamon have been partners for many years. Though not initially as strong as Masaru or Touma, Yoshino has more than enough skill at her job. She suffered from self doubt due to experiences in her childhood, but with Lalamon, was able to overcome them.

• Ikuto Noguchi ((野口 イクト) Noguchi Ikuto) and Falcomon: Ikuto is a mysterious boy who, years before the start of the series, was lost in an accident involving a Digital Gate. Ikuto was raised by a digimon called Frigimon, whom was killed in a massacre orchestrated by a man named Akihiro Kurata. A servant of Mercurimon, Ikuto eventually hated all humans, but began to change his opinion as he learned his true origins. Falcomon is his partner and childhood friend, who does his best to help Ikuto as he comes to grips with his humanity.

Supporting Cast

DATS

• Captain Rentarou Satsuma: Rentarou Satsuma is Masaru, Tohma, and Yoshino's superior officer, responsible for giving them orders and supervising all operations from the base. More often than not, his purpose was to delegate to his subordinates from the command center. However, when Akihiro Kurata's machinations led to his team being dissolved, he was arrested. Presumably broken out by his digimon partner, Kudamon, he rejoined his team. When they resolved to try and enter the Digital World, Satsuma and Kudamon were forced to remain behind, and hold off the three mysterious beings known as Kouki, Ivan, and Nanami, who had the power to turn into Digimon. Satsuma and Kudamon battled them, and were last seen in an explosion. It is unknown if or how they survived.

Before the start of the series, Satsuma was a private investigator who worked with Hiroshi Yushima. After investigating multiple missing persons cases, they came to learn that the disappearances were the result of the opening of numerous gates that led to the strange realm known as the Digital World. Satsuma and Yushima joined an expedition into the Digital World, where they came to know Masaru's father, Suguru. However, they were forced to return to the Human World without him. After this, Suguru somehow managed to send something to the human world - Yushima and Kudamon's partners, Kudamon and Kamemon, as well as the data for the Digivice. Satsuma then became the Captain of the Japanse branch of DATS.

Satsuma is voiced by Taiten Kusunoki.

• Kudamon: Kudamon is Satsuma's Digimon partner, who is commonly seen curled around his partner's neck, like a scarf. Though he does not fight much, he has the power to digivolve into his Champion (Adult) form, Reppamon, as well as his Ultimate (Perfect) form, Qilinmon.

Kudamon is voiced by Nanaho Katsuragi.

• Miki Kurosaki and Megumi Shirokawa: The two DATS computer operators. They are partners with the two PawnChessmon, and primarily aid the team from the control room. It is they that usually identify a Digimon when it appears in the real world. After their DATS branch was disbanded, Miki and Megumi were left behind with Ikuto's family while the rest of the team went to the Digital World.

Miki is voiced by Ai Nagano, and Megumi by Yukiko Hanioka.

• PawnChessmon Black and White: Miki and Megumi's two Digimon partners. While completely silent, they aid the group from behind the scenes, and can even digivolve (evolve) KnightChessmon to fight alongside their comrades as well.

• Chief Hiroshi Yushima: Hiroshi Yushima is the cheif officer of DATS, and is a former private investigator as well as a member of the expedition to the Digital World. When the series began, he appeared to Masaru, giving him his Digivice. The old man would appear again, mostly at opportune times, to give Masaru advice pertaining to his latest challenge. The facts about him were later revealed when he journeyed to the Digital World in order to aid Masaru and the others in their first encounter with the Digimon known as Mercurimon. Yushima was eventually forced to help them escape back to the Human World, and disappeared in a cave-in inside Mercurimon's lair. He has not been seen since.

Yushima is voiced by Yuuichi Nagashima.

• Kamemon: Kamemon is Yushima's Digimon partner, though this fact was not known for some time. The Digimon typically appeared doing grunt work in DATS headquarters, and his relationship with Yushima was not known until the old man called on him to help him in Mercurimon's lair. He disappeared along with Yushima.

Kamemon is voiced by Naozumi Takahashi.

Daimon Familly

• Sayuri Daimon: Sayuri is Masaru and Chika's mother, as well as Suguru Daimon's wife. When she first appeared, she reacted somewhat casually to Agumon's presence, giving the impression that she was somewhat simple-minded. However, it was eventually revealed that she had been knowledgable of the existance of Digimon for some time. Though kind and supportive of her son, she is somewhat fearful when he voiced that he had to go to the Digital World and stop the machinations of Kurata. Her memories of the family's time with Agumon were temporarily erased, but that seems to have been reversed.

Sayuri is voiced by Mariko Kouda.

• Chika Daimon: Chika is Masaru's sister. She was immediately taken with and friendly towards Masaru's rival and friend Touma, and it was her wish that she escort her and her mother on her birthday. Later, Chika befriended a newly hatched Digimon who eventually became Biyomon (Piyomon), but this relationship ended in tragedy when Biyomon was struck down, and later driven to madness after being revived. When her friend was finally defeated, Chika was happy to know her friend no longer had to suffer. Later, her memories of her experiences with digimon were apparently erased by the Confidentiality Ministry, but she seems to have regained them.

Chika is voiced by Kokoro Kikuchi.

• Suguru Daimon: Though he has never been seen personally, Daimon Suguru's legacy is felt throughout the series. He is Masaru's father, and a member of the expedition to the Digital World. When the group was forced to escape back to the human world, he was left behind, and for a while, it was unknown what happened to him. That is, until the answers were revealed by the Digimon called Mercurimon. Suguru had remained back in the Digital World in order to seek out the "god" of the Digital World named Yggdrasil. Before that, however, he created the Digivice, and sent the data for it to the human world along with Kudamon and Kamemon. After making a deal with Mercurimon to preserve the peace of both worlds, he departed. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Suguru is voiced by Hozumi Gôda.

Other

• Mercurimon: Mercurimon is a powerful Digimon and one of the Olympus Twelve. He raised Ikuto after the death of Ikuto's guardian, Frigimon, and ruled over a portion of the Digital World from his palace, the Infinity Ice Ridge. He was originally open to the idea of trusting in humans, and formed a friendship with Suguru Daimon. His trust in him was shattered, though, when Akihiro Kurata lead an attack on it. This lead to the resolution that humans were evil, and made every effort to avoid them. However, when the truth was revealed by Kurata himself, Mercurimon decided to try believing in Suguru's words again, and sacrificed his life to save Ikuto, Masaru, and the others.

Primary Antagonists

• Kurata

Kurata was once part of the expedition to the Digital World, along with Yushima, Satsuma, Suguru Daimon, and several others. This event left a huge impression on Kurata, leading his hatred and fear of all Digimon. He led an army of soldiers into the Digital World, where he began a massacre that was stopped by Mercurimon. Resurfacing years later with the intention to continue his work, he began a series of events that culminated in the death of Mercurimon at the hands of his creation, Gizmon, and the dissolution of the Japanese branch of DATS. He has since returned to the Digital World, intent on continuing his efforts to inflict [...] on Digimon.

Kurata is the creator of the Gizmon, whose attacks can result in a Digimon being permanently deleted. He also presumably gave Kouki, Nanami, and Ivan the power to turn into Digimon.

Kouki

Kouki is one of the modified (seemingly) human individuals with the power to turn into a Digimon through the proccess of Hyper Bio Evolution. He first appeared to defend Kurata from Ikuto and Yatagaramon. He then appeared before the series' heroes, where he clashed fists with Masaru - an act that alerted everyone to the fact that he was no mere human. However, both his and his comrades' attack were halted by Satsuma and Kudamon.

Kouki's voice is supplied by KENN.

BioThunderbirdmon

BioThunderbirmon is Kouki's Digimon form, based on the Armor Digimon Thunderbirdmon.

Nanami

Another one of the modified individuals working for Kurata. After the DATS building was destroyed, she and Ivan chased after Satsuma, and later fought Miki, Megumi, and the two PawnChessmon. She dresses rather oddly, carrying an umbrella, and wearing clothing in the style of gothic lolita.

BioCoatlmon

BioCoatlmon is Nanami's Digimon form, based on the Digimon Quetzalmon.

Ivan

The strong man of the trio consisting of himself, Nanami, and Kouki. Ivan seems to lack an "inner monologue", as he is prone to burst out what he is thinking inwardly without realizing it.

BioStegomon

BioStegomon is Ivan's Digimon form, possessing strength as well as durability. He is based on the Digimon Stegomon.

Other

• Gotsumon: Gotsumon was a minion of Mercurimon, who both hated and feared humans, even Ikuto, whom his master had raised. Despite his master's orders not to get involved with the humans' actions, he attacked the members of DATS on numerous occassions, and even temporarily sided with SaberLeomon. His final effort had him taking a stand as his Ultimate (Perfect) form, Meteormon (Insekimon), but he was destroyed by RiseGreymon.

• SaberLeomon: SaberLeomon is a powerful Mega-level digimon, who terrorized the expedition team that Satsuma and Suguru Daimon were a part of. Back then, he was defeated by Suguru personally, an act that would prove to be ironically haunting years later. Ten years later, SaberLeomon confronted Mercurimon about his supposed cowardice in dealing with humans. He struck an alliance with Gotsumon, who he had lead SaberLeomon's army into the human world. When this failed, he attacked the human world personally - only to fall prey to Kurata's schemes. He was struck by a beam from Gizmon, one of Kurata's creations, which weakened him to the point that Masaru could shatter his fang. He was then defeated by RiseGreymon, and his Digi-Egg was destroyed.

SaberLeomon's voice was supplied by Hitoshi Bifu.

Other Characters

• Chief Hashiba: Chief Hashiba is a representative from the Japanese Confidentiality Ministry, whose responsibility is to over-see DATS. Hashiba first appeared after the Digimon known as Mercurimon made his presence known, and threatened to shut down DATS for blowing their cover. He appeared again when it appeared that Kenji and Misuzu Noguchi had opened a gate to the Digital World, and had them taken into government custody. Ater this, he seemed to fall prey to (or cooperated) with the machinations of Kurata) and had the memories of the DATS personell and their families' memories erased.

Hashiba's is voiced by Satoshi Tsuruoka.

• Kenji Noguchi and Misuzu Noguchi: Kenji and Misuzu are Ikuto's biological parents, as well as the father and mother of his young sister. Ten years ago, they attempted to create a Digital Gate, but disaster struck when Ikuto was drawn into it. They joined the expedition into the Digital World in order to find him, but they were forced to return to the human world with the others before they could. They were reunited with their son years later, however, but their reunion was interrupted when a Digimon called Hagurumon appeared in their home, and transformed their house into a monster based on a toy Ikuto had as a child. Hashiba appeared, accusing them of illegally creating another Digital Gate, and took them into custody. Later, they were approached by Masaru, Tohma, and Yoshino, who asked them to create a Digital Gate for them. They agreed, and despite reservations on not having more time to spend with the son they never knew, they gave Ikuto their blessing to go as well.

Kenji's voice is supplied by Hiroshi Naka and Misuzu's is performed by Niina Kumagaya.

• Frigimon (Yukidarumon): Frigimon was Ikuto's surrogate mother after he was left stranded in the Digital World. Having heard his mother's cries for him on the other side of the gate, she came to know his name, and decided that she would take care of him. However, her life ended in tragedy during Kurata's attack on the Digital World, as she was struck by a beam from one of the attacking Gizmon.

Frigimon was voiced by Tomoko Ohtsuka.

• Tsubasa Hayase (Hayase Tsubasa): A famous boxer whose career was an inspiration to Tohma as a child. Some time ago, he was critically injured in a match. However, his career enjoyed a resurgance due to maladies that affected his opponents, which led DATS to suspect a Digimon's involvement. In truth, it was Tsubasa's daughter, Manami, who was using the Digimon, a Togemon, in order to ensure her father's victory. Tohma and Gaomon defeated Togemon, and explained what had happened to her father. Despite losing his memories of the event, he resolved to fight his title match, even with the risk to his body, all in order to show his daughter the way he was meant to fight - fairly and honestly.

Tsubasa's voice was supplied by Isshin Chiba.

• Hitoshi "Neon" Hanamura (Hanamura Hitoshi): A childhood schoolmate of Yoshino's, Hitoshi was often ridiculed by his peers for his weight. Years later, he became a well-known pop singer, using the alias of "Neon Hanamura", whose sudden rise in popularity attracted the suspicion of DATS. It became known that he was using a Keramon to manipulate digital information to widen the audience of his music, as well as manipulate statistics for downloads and rankings of his songs. Yoshino went undercover and began a relationship with him, but when it appeared she was getting too attached to the case, Tohma decided it was time to act. Eventually, all three members of the team confronted Neon, and the young man's anxiety led to him inadvertently causing Keramon to digivolve into Chrysalimon. Despite losing what he'd worked so hard for, in the end, Neon's greatest regret was that he'd have his memory erased, and thereby lose all memory of coming to know Yoshino again.

Neon's voice was supplied by Tomokazu Seki.

• Koichiro Shiratori (Shiratori Kouichiro): Koichiro was a schoolmate of Masaru's, whose dream it was to follow in his father's footsteps as the proprieter of his family's store, which was famous for its manjuu. However, the store had fallen on tough times after Kouichiro's mother had fallen sick, leading to his father becoming desperate for money. This led to his Koichiro's father becoming obsessed with gambling, leading to him falling prey to three DemiDevimon (PicoDevimon) and a Vilemon (Evilmon), who sought to use his greed to grow in power. They disguised themselves as a idol statue, and rigged horse races in Koichiro's father's favor. However, Masaru discovered this, and with Yoshino, destroyed the four digimon. In the end, Koichiro and his father made peace, and resolved to re-vitalize their store.

• Drimogemon / Digmon: This Drimogemon was one of many Digimon to breach the gap between the Digital World and the human world, but he was significant in regards to the events that lead to his defeat. He was accidentally brought to this world through the equipment used by two would-be bank robbers. Their greed caused Drimogemon to increase in size and rage out of control, and eventually, it escaped back to the Digital World. However, Tohma, unable to accept his failure or the chance that Drimogemon could lead even more Digimon to the human world, went to the Digital World after him. Masaru followed him, and together, they faced Drimogemon. Before he was defeated, however, he digivolved into Digmon, forcing Tohma and Masaru to combine their digimon's power against him. This lead to both accepting one another as team-mates.

Drimogemon was voiced by Satoshi Tsuruoka.

Series Organizations

DATS (Digital Accident Tactics Squad)

DATS is an organization dedicated to keeping the peace between the human and Digital Worlds, by stopping any Digimon that appears in the real world, and returning it to the Digital World in the form of a Digi-Egg (digitama). Its mission is a harsh one, as any digimon who appears in the real world has the potential to run wild when influenced by the evil intentions of humans. With the boundary between the two worlds breaking down, this mission is more important than ever. DATS primarily employs a number of technicians, as well as nurses and other employees, but its primary activities are taken care of by their operatives and their Digimon partners - any human who has a Digi-Soul is a potential inductee to DATS.

DATS' exact origins are unclear, but the Japanese branch operates out of a building located on the waterfront of the city the series takes place in. As this branch is now, it had its origins in the expedition to the Digital World ten years prior to the start of the series. After returning to the human world, Rentarou Satsuma and Hiroshi Yushima had their partners and Digivices sent to them from the Digital World by Suguru Daimon. Satsuma became a captain of the 1st Branch, and Satsuma his superior.

DATS is apparently a worldwide organization, as Tohma was known to visit the European branch prior to episode three. It is unknown if there is an American branch, or one elsewhere, but the majority of Digimon activity occurs in Japan. The Japanese branch, at least, falls under the direct jurisdiction of Japan's Confidentiality Ministry.

Due to the manipulation of Kurata, the core team of DATS operatives in Japan was dissolved, and the building ahnillated. It is unknown if the organization still exists in some other capacity, or if it will be reinstated - one could argue that Kurata officially oversees the activities of DATS in its current state, but the DATS headquarters was also destroyed by Kurata, who spoke as if all of DATS no longer existed.

Technology

• Digivice: The digivice is the primary tool used by any human with a Digimon partner. The primary Digivice used by the characters in the series is the Digivice iC.It is used for multiple purposes, the most important of which is the channeling of the human's Digi-Soul, which allows for the Digimon to digivolve (evolve). It can also "store" a partner inside of it, and released back in the world with the command of "realize."
  • Other digivices are used in the series, similar in design to the Digivice iC, but not identical to it. Though they are arguably not actually members of DATS, the first is a type of digivice used by the soldiers commanded by Kurata, which is a much more complicated device that is connected to other machinery through wires. Another kind is the digivice used by Kouki, Ivan, and Nanami, which they use to evolve into their Digimon forms.
• Digital Dive: The Digital Dive is the method used by DATS to send both Digimon (in the form of Digi-Eggs) and humans to the Digital World, in addition to retrieving them.
• Digi-Window: A small, portable computer used by Tohma to track and identify any digimon the group encounters.
• Memory Erasure Device: A small device used by DATS to erase the memories of anyone who encountered a Digimon.

Confidentiality Ministry

The Confidentiality Ministry is the government body that oversees the activities of DATS. It, essentially, gives DATS the ability to operate, while also making sure that it also does its job of making sure that Digimon encounters are kept out of public knowledge. Their other activities include authorizing the expedition to the Digital World ten years ago, and (presumably) giving Kurata the authorization to lead his soldiers into the Digital World.

Digi-Soul

An important concept in the series is the Digi-Soul, the main medium by which the humans in the series evolve their Digimon. Essentially, it is some kind of energy aura that allows a Digimon to grow stronger. This is in contrast to the evil emotions that most Digimon feed off of. As the Digi-Soul is (apparently) tied to the user's emotions, someone like Masaru can only summon his Digi-Soul if he slams his fist into a Digimon, which ties into the boy's desire to fight and grow stronger. The Digi-Soul can apparently also make the user more powerful, as shown by the times it has allowed both Masaru and his father to actually physically harm a Digimon.

The Digi-Soul usually manifests as a glowing aura around the user's hand, which is then channeled through the Digivice with the command of "Digi Soul Charge". A stronger version is the so-called Full Charge, which erupts around the entire body.

There exists a way to also artificially create a Digi-Soul, as shown by Kurata, who uses it to evolve his Gizmon into its multiple forms. Some form of Digi-Soul can also be used by Kouki, Nanami, and Ivan to assume their Digimon forms.

Digital World

The Digital World is the otherworldly realm, which as it is in other series, formed due to the growing worldwide digital network. Though we have only seen a part of it in the series, locations include a forest ruled over by Cherrymon, and the Infinity Ice Ridge, the ruling place of Mercurimon. The Digital World is connected to the real world by way of Digital Gates, most of which open incidentally. For some reason, the barrier between both worlds is breaking down. Finally, as stated by Mercurimon, a sort of omnipresent "god" of the Digital World exists, known as Yggdrasil.

Trivia

• The organization, DATS, has several notable similarities to the fictional organizations portayed in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, as well as its American counterpart, Power Rangers: S.P.D. The idea of a police organization dealing with otherworldly creatures existing alongside humans was also previously explored in the Men in Black films - a movie which also featured a device that could erase memories.
• Yggdrasil, the supposed "god" of the Digital World, was previously featured in the movie, Digital Monster X-Evolution.
