The third EDition of Big Brother in the United Kingdom featured a total of fourteen Housemates.
Adele
Adele Roberts, born on March 9, 1979, was a 23 year old DJ and personal assistant from Southport. She was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. She rapped in her audition video, along with background music, stating why she should enter the house. Adele received much male attention during her stay in the house, with the men choosing her as the hottest girl in the house. She had a flirtatious relationship with Lee, before revealing to him that she was bisexual and had a girlfriend outside of the house. Despite this, The Two remained close friends in the house.
During her time in the house she formed strong bonds with Jade and Alex. On Day 44, she was evicted to a booing crowd. In 2007, she made a brief return to the house with Alex, during one of the tasks in Big Brother 8.
Alex
Alex Sibley, born on March 21, 1978, is a 23 year old model from London. Alex was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. He has stated that he has been a model for four years, but that work is "scarce" at the moment. He has modeled for brands such as Armani, which he described as being his "big break." He states he wanted to try new things, which inspired him to audition for the series. In the house, Alex often tried to keep things clean around the house, and often annoyed his fellow Housemates over the cleanliness of the house. He was initially attracted to Adele in the house, but he later found out that she had a girlfriend outside of the house. Despite this, the two remained friends during their time together.
On Day 64, Alex left the house, finishing in 3rd place. In Big Brother 8, Alex briefly returned to the house after appearing in a "time-traveller" task with fellow housemate Adele, in which two of the then current housemates travelled back to 2002 and completed a series of tasks. In 2009, Alex reappeared on Big Brother 10 as part of a task celebrating 10 years of Big Brother. He challenged his former fellow housemates Lee and Sophie to an egg and spoon race. Rodrigo Lopes had to predict who would win. Although Rodrigo predicted Alex, Lee won.
Alison
Alison Hammond, born on February 5, 1975, was a 27 year old cinema team leader from Birmingham. Alison was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. She has stated that she is addicted to vasoline, and uses it to keep her lips moisturized. She also stated that putting her on the series would provide the viewers with "excitement." Being a bigger woman, Alison often joked AbOUT her weight in the house. When asked to make a painting on a dining room chair that best described their personalities, Alison painted a plate of food on her chair. She had close relationships with most of her fellow Housemates, mainly Kate and Jade. Alison initially stated that she fancied Housemate Alex, who was a model. Despite this, the two often clashed, especially after Alison admitted to peeing in the shower, a fact which greatly upset Alex. He later nominated both Alison and Jonny for this reason at the first round of nominations. Housemate Adele initially felt a connection with Alison as they are both "black", however, she later stated she felt as though Alison did not really like her. Housemate Lee did not care for Alison, and he and Adele spoke poorly of her in the house. Alison was evicted on Day 15.
Jade
Jade Goody, born on June 5, 1981, was a dental nurse from Bermondsey. Jade was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. She described herself as being "bubbly" and "outspoken," and stated this is why she was perfect for the house. Davina stated that Jade was terrified before entering the house, as she had a phobia of ketchup. She had met fellow Housemate Kate at the audition process, thus the two knew each other briefly before entering the house. She quickly became known for her antics in the house, mainly her seemingly naive and "dumb" comments about GeneRally well known topics. Jade got along well with most of the Housemates, mainly Kate and Alison. She had a numerous confrontations in the house, with her argument with Adele being selected as the "Best Bit of Big Brother" in a 2003 poll. She also had a strong dislike for Housemate Sophie, who entered the house on Day 10. On Day 8, Jade learned that she had been nominated for eviction by the public, and that the Housemates would vote to evict either her or Lynne; the group unanimously chose to keep Jade in the game.
She left the house on Day 64, in 4th place, but went on to become the most successful former Big Brother housemate to date. After leaving the house, she opened a beauty salon ("Ugly"), starred in numerous reality TV shows, made four fitness DVDs and wrote her autobiography, entitled "Jade: My Autobiography", published by HarperCollins. In 2004, she returned to the house to appear in Big Brother Panto, with fellow housemates Tim and Spencer, where she played the part of Cinderella. In 2007, she entered the house for a third time, this time for Celebrity Big Brother, but when in the house, her actions caused a media furore on the grounds of perceived racism. In August 2008, she became a contestant in the second series of The INDIAN version of Big Brother (called Bigg Boss); however, she was forced to leave on day 2 after being told she had cancer. She died as a result of cervical cancer on 22 March 2009.
Jonny
Jonathon "Jonny" Regan, born on October 14, 1972, is a former fireman from Trimdon, County Durham. Jonny was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter on Day 1. Host Davina McCall described Jonny as a "joker," and his audition video showed him mocking himself and his foolishness. Throughout the series, Jonny came up with numerous games in the house to keep everyone entertained, including enacting an episode of The Jerry Springer Show and a game which required partners to try and make more [...] positions than another pair. He clashed with Housemate Alex in the house, with Jonny becoming annoyed with Alex's attempts to take a leadership role in the house.
On Day 29, he received one strike for crossing the divide. On Day 29, he received one strike for stealing a bar of chocolate from the rich side. While in the house he argued with Jade and Alex. On Day 64, he was last person to leave the house, before Kate, coming in as runner-up.
Kate
Kate Lawler, born on May 7, 1980, was a 22 year old I.T. and part-time model from Kent. She was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. She has a twin sister, Karen, who is the one who convinced her to apply for the series. Kate is very athletic, participating in sports such as boxing and frequently working out. She had met fellow Housemate Jade at the audition process, thus the two knew each other briefly before entering the house. In the early days, it became apparent that Kate and Spencer had a close friendship, with the two often spending time together in the house. This friendship later developed into a romantic relationship, which also continued outside of the house for some time.
While in the house she grew close to Alison, Jonny, Jade (who she had met at auditions) and Spencer. She is most remembered in the house for her drunken antics. On Day 20, she received one strike for crossing over from the poor side to the rich side, although she says that Spencer pulled her over. While in the house she argued with Jade and Alex. On Day 64, she left the house as the winner.
Since leaving the house with the £70,000 prize money, she has enjoyed steady work in television and became a DJ on Capital FM, a position she held until December 2003. After leaving the house, she had a short-lived relationship with fellow housemate, Spencer. She has also engaged in a very publicised feud with Jade Goody. In 2007, Kate appeared on the BBC comedy Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive. She co-presented the Kerrang! Radio breakfast show, The Morning After alongside Tim Shaw 7am-10am and now presents the drivetime show 4pm-7pm. On 26 January 2008, Kate returned to Big Brother as a hijacker for a day, in the new show Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack.
Lee
Lee Davey, born on May 30, 1980, was a 21 year old personal trainer and keen bodybuilder from Leicester. Lee was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. He was described as looking similar to celebrity Mike Tyson. He has cited himself as a football fan, and stated that he would help raise ratings for the series. Lee states that David Beckham is his hero, and he lives with his father and brother. Before entering the house, he was in a relationship with a woman named Carmen.
While in the house, Lee was involved in a love triangle after expressing lust for fellow housemate Adele only to find out she was bisexual and had a girlfriend on the outside. The day after finding this out, Sophie entered the house as Sunita's replacement. He immediately began to flirt with her, despite already having a girlfriend himself on the outside. Lee and Sophie later went on to get married and have a child named Max. They also filmed a Sky One show called Big Brother's Little Wedding. Unfortunately, the marriage was short-lived and they subsequently divorced in 2006. On Day 22, Lee was evicted, losing out to Jonny. On 31 August 2002, Lee appeared as a stripper with The Dream Boys for one night. In 2007 Lee started a 4-year Sport Studies degree at The University of Northampton. In 2009 he made a guest appearance on Big Brother 10 as part of a task celebrating 10 years of Big Brother. He challenged his former fellow housemates Alex and Sophie to an egg and spoon race. Rodrigo Lopes had to predict who would win. Although Rodrigo predicted Alex, Lee won. He now lives in Thatcham Berkshire, owns a number of gyms and works in Reading. Despite being born and bred in Leicestershire, bizarrely Lee is a massive Newcastle United fan.
Lynne
Lynne Moncrieff, born on February 6, 1966, was a 36 year old art student from Aberdeen. Lynne was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. She was the last Housemate to be available to enter the house, as she had an exam the day before the live premiere. While in the house, Lynne clashed with fellow Housemate Spencer, who she described as being "cocky" and "self-assured." She later confronted him about this, causing a rift between the two. The two later argued yet again, when Lynne became upset that Spencer wanted to move into her bedroom.Lynne was upset with Sunita's decision to walk from the game, and later gave her a bracelet before her departure. She also didn't like PJ while in the house, and at one point referred to both Spencer and PJ as being "sexist" while she was in the Diary Room. On Day 8, it was revealed to the Housemates that Jade and Lynne had been nominated for eviction, with the nominees being decided by a public vote. The Housemates not nominated for eviction then had to vote one of the two out; they chose Lynne, with the majority stating they simply got along better with Jade. She initially stated she was fine with her eviction, but later stated that she felt offended at the fact that she was the first person evicted. Her reception upon her eviction was negative, with one man even attempting to break the the barricade to get to her; however, security stopped him. Lynne came in 12th place.
PJ
Peter James "PJ" Ellis, born on August 10, 1979 was 22 year old law student. PJ was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. He stated he wanted to apply for the previous season, but had a girlfriend at the time who wouldn't allow it. He stated he wanted on the series so he could possibly win the money. He also cited a dare made by his friends as part of his decision to enter the house. He clashed with Housemate Lynne during her time in the house, with Lynne later referring to him as a "sexist" in the Diary Room.
His time in the house is best remembered for his night in bed with Jade - dubbed 'PJ the BJ by the media. He ignored Jade the next morning. PJ attended Archbishop Grimshaw School, Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham, UK, leaving in 1997. He graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Law and completed a Legal Practice Course at the same university. He is now working as a commercial lawyer in Bournemouth, UK. PJ was evicted from the Big Brother house on Day 51. PJ now works at Weightmans in Birmingham.
Sandy
Sandy Cumming, born on January 12, 1959, was a 43 year old women's personal shopper from Scotland. He was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. Sandy was the oldest Housemate to participate in this season, and the only Housemate over the age of 40. He stated he wanted to participate in Big Brother as it sounded like a "challenge" and he felt he'd enjoy it. He got along well with Housemates such as Spencer, which Spencer attributed to the fact that the two both enjoyed "quietness." While in the house, he often complained about his fellow Housemates and the events that occurred in the house. He got along well with Housemate Alex, who the majority of the Housemates disliked due to his attempts at taking a leadership role. The two were noted for spending time together, with Housemate PJ saying that they had "segregated themselves," and new Housemate Sophie felt as though she couldn't approach them. On Day 20, after urinating in a bin, he left the house by climbing over the wall as the others watched a football match. He later said that "it was the most exciting thing that happened in the house."
Sophie
Sophie Pritchard, born on June 9, 1977, was a 25 year old who worked in a recruitment agency. She was from Marlow. Sophie entered the house in the evening of Day 10 as a replacement for Housemate Sunita, who chose to walk three days prior.
She grew a strong bond with Lee, while in the house, also making friends with Kate and Jonny. On Day 17, Sophie celebrated her 25th birthday. On Day 36, she was evicted. After coming out of the house she and Lee got married and had a baby together. However, in 2006 they split. In 2009 Sophie reappeared on Big Brother 10 as part of a task celebrating 10 years of Big Brother. She challenged her former fellow housemates Alex and Lee to an egg and spoon race. Rodrigo Lopes had to predict who would win. Although Rodrigo predicted Alex, Lee won. Sophie is now training to be an Art teacher.
Spencer
Spencer Smith, born on July 13, 1979, was a 22 year old shop assistant from Cambridgeshire. Spencer also worked as a ski assistant and part-time punter on the River Cam before entering the house. He was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. Spencer could juggle, which he displayed in his audition tape. The night before entering Spencer became heavily intoxicated, and dreamed that the press had broken into his room. Spencer almost immediately had a close friendship with Housemate Kate, with the two often spending time together. Their friendship later turned into a romantic relationship, which carried on outside of the house. Early on, Housemate Lynne referred to Spencer as "cocky" and "self-assured", which upset him. The two did not get along in the house afterwards, and didn't really speak up until her eviction.

In 2004, he appeared with fellow housemates Tim and Jade in Big Brother Panto and also starred in Fool Around With as well as his own television series about fishing for the Discovery Channel called Cast Away. He also appeared in Celebrity 5 Go Dating and Celebrity Fear Factor.
Sunita
Sunita Sharma, born on September 6, 1976, was a trainee barrister from London. She was one of the original twelve Housemates to enter the house on Day 1. She stated that she had a "wicked sense of humor", and felt that she was an "intelligent" person. She also stated that the audience would either love her or hate her. She was worried upon entering the house as her mother had no idea that she had been a smoker for seven years. Sunita is a vegetarian, being the only vegetarian in the house this season. She failed to have very good relationships in the house, and early on clashed with Housemate Jade. Housemate Alex noted that she didn't participate in group activities, and appeared to be closed off to the rest of the group. She often expressed doubts about appearing on the series. On Day 4, she stated in the Diary Room that she was not happy in the house, but continued in the game. The following day, she told Big Brother that she felt "naive" about joining the show, and that she felt that this "wasn't her party." On Day 6, Sunita confirmed in the Diary Room that she had officially decided to walk from the game, stating she had become bored with seeing the same faces and being in the same place for so long. On Day 7, officially exited the house. Her decision to walk from the game made Sunita the first person in the series to voluntarily leave the house.
Tim
Tim Culley (born April 1979) entered the house on day 24. Upon entry, he immediately broke the rules regarding information from the outside world, telling the housemates the results of the World Cup. Tim attended Malvern College, Malvern, Worcestershire, UK, leaving in 1997. He graduated from the University of Durham, UK, 2002, with a degree in Business Finance, however he missed his official graduation Ceremony, owing to him being on Big Brother at the time. Tim is naturally ginger, but likes to dye his hair brown, he became a laughing stock by shaving his chest hairs and covering himself up when he saw a camera on him. Tim was evicted from the Big Brother house on Day 57 Tim now lives in South Africa, where he runs his own advertising agency.
