List of authors whose works are in the public domain
This list identifies authors whose entire body of work is in the public domain in the country from which that author originated. While determination that a work lies in the public domain differs from country to country, it is almost universally accepted that works enter the public domain no later than 70 years after the death of the author. This list therefore contains all authors who are in the 71st calendar year after their death, and authors who have expressly released their entire body of work into the public domain. It also includes American authors whose last work was published prior to 1923, as all works published in the United States before that year are in the public domain.
