Maria Mika
Maria Mika (23 May 1882 in Vienna – 17 November 1994 in Vienna) was the oldest validated Austrian supercentenarian ever upon her death at the age of 112 years 178 days.
She was reported to be in bad physical status when she arrived at her nursing home in 1991/92 aged 109 years.
Leopold Vietoris
Leopold Vietoris (4 June 1891 in Styria – 9 April 2002 in Tyrol) was an Austrian mathematician and World War I veteran who gained extra fame for his longevity. He was the oldest Austrian until his death at the age of 110 years 309 days.
Vietoris had played a role in his contribution to topology. He had enrolled at the University of Vienna and earned his Ph.D. in 1920. Vietoris was drafted in 1914, and had been wounded in September of that year. One week before the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 11 November 1918, he had become an Italian POW. In 1936, he married his longtime wife Maria Riccabona (18 July 1901 – 24 March 2002). The couple had the seventh highest total combined age of 210+ years.
Vietoris died in Innsbruck, located in Tyrol. At the time of his death, he was survived by his six daughters, seventeen grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren.
