Lin Biao Diary

The Lin Biao diary, was allegdly written by his wife Ye Qun between March 1964-September 1971, on Lin Biao's instructions, concerning important matters surrounding the Chinese Communist Party. It was allegedly kept by Communist Party of China as a top secret file until 2006, and was supposed to be unavailable to ordinary citizens, open only to high ranking communist officials.

On Mao's instruction

一九六四年三月三日：是福还是祸？毛嘱：要我关注政局在变化，要我多参与领导工作，又问：上层也在学苏联，搞修正主义，怎么办？中国会不会出赫鲁晓夫搞清算，搞了怎么办？毛认为被人架空，这个人是谁？我吃了一惊，冒了一身冷汗。一场大的政治斗争要来临。

Translation: 3 March 1964: Is it a blessing, or a disaster? Mao said, I need to pay more attention to politic, and he wants me to take more ACTIVE part in the leadership's work, and asked: the top echelon is learning from USSR, they are into revisionism, what can we do? Would there be a Chinese type of Khrushchev, into revenge, if there is going to be one, what can we do?
Mao regarded himself is being stepped over, who is this person? I got a shock, cold sweat all over my body. A huge political struggle is on the horizon.

“B52” 说：“乱一乱怕什么？大乱才能大治。”

Translation: B52 (Mao's nickname) said:Why afraid of a bit of upheaval? Great upheaval will bring great peace.

我问总理：“上海是不是那个眼镜蛇（林私下对张春桥的称呼）搞的？”总理告诉我：“一、很反对武斗；二、情况不怎么了解，要等最高指示

Translation: I asked the premier(Zhou Enlai):Was it the cobra(Zhang Chunqiao's nick name) did all these in Shanghai? The premier told me:''1, against physical violence; 2, conditions not clear, waiting for ultmost instruction(meaning instruction from Mao).

Impression of Mao

主席就是最大的群众，他一个人顶亿万人，所以和他的关系搞好了，就等于对群众搞好了，这是最大的选票

Translation: Chairman(Mao) is the largest ever masses(people), him alone weighs more than billions of people, to have a good relation with him, means a good relation with the masses, this is the biggest vote.
